We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Eric Dury this weekend. Eric Dury Shereen Shabnam
Eric was a true gentleman, a wonderful actor and a hugely valued member of the UAE theatre community. We were very fortunate at Danú Dubai to have Eric involved in many of our projects, most notably Al Hamlet Summit.
Eric was one of the most polished, professional and exciting actors we had the privilege of working with. He possessed an extraordinary range as a performer, able to shift effortlessly between wit, intensity, vulnerability and stillness. There was always something alive and unpredictable in his work. He was razor-sharp on stage, with a presence like no other, and an actor who made both his fellow performers and an audience sit up and take notice.
Off stage, he was equally memorable for his warmth, generosity and kindness.
Eric gave so much to theatre in the UAE over many years, as an actor, educator and supporter of the arts. His contribution to our theatre community was immense, and he leaves behind many wonderful memories for those fortunate enough to have shared a stage, rehearsal room or conversation with him.
Our deepest condolences go to Shereen, Eric’s son and daughter, his wider family, friends, former students and all those whose lives he touched.
