“An American missionary has made donations of several medical equipment to Banso Baptist Hospital (BBH). Dr. Eugene Cleek returned to BBH this past May 2026, a hospital he regularly visits as a missionary doctor in collaboration with the Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC).
Dr. Cleek will also be serving as Head of Surgery for BBH – one of Cameroon’s largest hospitals. Dr. Cleek was introduced during chapel June 13 and decorated in the traditional North West regalia known as “toghu” in recognition of his support to the hospital.
Dr. Cleek’s return to BBH helps boost surgical services in a region with a growing need for surgeons resulting from various accidents and injuries (traumas).
Dr. Eugene Cleek is from California, USA and started the Pan African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS) program at BBH in 2003. It helps train surgeons with a focus on providing surgery from a Christian perspective and not focusing on money.
BBH is a pioneering hospital of the CBC with a bed capacity of more than 300 beds and serving patients from all over Cameroon and West and Central Africa.
