If you were in DIFC on last Sunday night, you felt it before anyone said a word. The energy inside wasn’t just a celebration; it was a powerful statement of intent.
Over 60+ diplomats, founders, C-suite executives, and creatives gathered for the UAE Africa Networking Group’s 10th Anniversary Africa Day, signaling a massive shift from “Africans in the Gulf” to “African excellence, headquartered in the Gulf.”
Here is what went down at this historic milestone:
➕A Blueprint for the Future: Our Founder, Dr. William Stenhouse, opened the evening with a powerful reminder that our proximity to capital and influence must be used with intention. Acting Consul General of Tunisia, Mr. Noureddine Daly, also took the stage, honoring UAEANG’s decade-long dedication to uniting the diaspora.
➕ The Announcement That Changed Everything: Saran Sow Barry, CEO of Afro Baobab, shifted the room by announcing the upcoming opening of the first permanent African Cultural Center in the UAE. A physical address for our commerce, art, language, and collaboration. We finally have a home base we built and own.
➕ Our Stories, Our Terms: The room went silent for the world premiere of a special video collective filmed at Daily TV Studios. Twenty UAE-based African professionals and creatives took to the screen to deliver moving tributes to their countries of origin, proving there is nothing more powerful than Africans telling their own stories.
Ten years of building quietly has brought us here. The infrastructure is rising, the institutions are coming, and we aren't going anywhere.
