We welcome the UAE’s new National Ecotourism Policy, which marks an important step towards creating sustainable tourism experiences that protect ecosystems, celebrate the nation’s natural and cultural heritage, and unlock new opportunities for local communities.

The policy was approved at the recent UAE Cabinet meeting, which also highlighted the achievements of the Emirates Council for Balanced Development, including the development of the Al Rams Ecotrail.

The trail is being developed as part of the Building Sustainable Rural Communities programme led by مجلس الإمارات للتنمية المتوازنة and Emirates Nature-WWF in Al Rams and Masfout.

Guided by a long-term ecotourism masterplan, the immersive trail will connect the mountain landscape of Al Rams with its farmlands and coastal lagoon, beginning at the historic Dhayah Fort in Ras Al Khaimah. Visitors will discover the area’s unique biodiversity and landscapes, support local businesses and strengthen community livelihoods – demonstrating how ecotourism can benefit both people and nature.

ما بدأ بدافع الفضول الشخصي، سرعان ما نما ليصبح “ازرع مع إيمي”، منصة تساعد الناس على اكتشاف أن زراعة غذائهم ليست حكرًا على الخبراء، بل يمكن أن تبدأ ببساطة من حديقة المنزل، أو الشرفة، أو حتى حافة النافذة

وتطمح إيمان إلى أن تصبح المنصة، منصة إقليمية للزراعة المنزلية والاستدامة، تقدّم معرفة متخصصة تناسب بيئة الخليج، وحلولًا عملية، وموارد تساعد الناس على البدء والاستمرار — بهدف واحد: إعادة ربط الناس بالأرض وتعزيز علاقتهم بها

What began as a personal curiosity soon grew into Eman Almarri - a platform helping people discover that growing food is not reserved for experts. It can begin in a backyard, balcony or windowsill.

Eman envisions Plant with Amy becoming a regional platform for home gardening and sustainability, offering Gulf-specific knowledge, practical solutions and resources - all with one ambition: bringing people closer to the land.

Her story is a reminder that meaningful change often starts small – with curiosity, consistency and a willingness to begin.

Managed by the Fujairah Environment Authority هيئة الفجيرة للبيئة , Wadi Wurayah is home to permanent freshwater in a hyper-arid landscape.

For more than two decades, Emirates Nature-WWF and Fujairah Environment Authority have worked together to study and monitor this freshwater ecosystem, strengthening our understanding of the species, habitats and water systems it supports.

Protecting Wadi Wurayah is therefore not only about biodiversity - it is also about water security.

We were delighted to be recognized by the Emirates Council for Balanced Development (مجلس الإمارات للتنمية المتوازنة) for our longstanding partnership and shared commitment to building more sustainable and resilient communities across the UAE. 💚

This recognition marked the close of the ECBD Summer in Emirates Villages 2026 school programme, one of the initiatives we were proud to support as part of this ongoing collaboration.

Through the programme, our team led four interactive workshops, engaging more than 120 students across Al Rams in Ras Al Khaimah and Al Shuwaib in Abu Dhabi.

Students explored key topics including pollution, biodiversity and climate change, while learning more about the UAE’s natural environment and ecosystems.

أسعدنا التكريم من قبل مجلس الإمارات للتنمية المتوازنة تقديرًا لشراكتنا الممتدة والتزامنا المشترك ببناء مجتمعات أكثر استدامة وقدرة على مواجهة التحديات في مختلف أنحاء دولة الإمارات.

وجاء هذا التكريم تزامنًا مع اختتام برنامج صيف قرى الإمارات المدرسي لعام 2026، بالتعاون مع مجلس الإمارات للتنمية المتوازنة، وهو أحد البرامج التي نفخر بدعمها في إطار هذا التعاون المستمر

وخلال البرنامج، قدّم فريقنا أربع ورش تفاعلية، استفاد منها أكثر من 120 طالبًا وطالبة في كل من الرمس في رأس الخيمة والشويب في أبوظبي

وتعرّف الطلبة خلال الورش على مجموعة من المواضيع الرئيسية، من بينها التلوث البيئي والتنوع البيولوجي وتغيّر المناخ، إلى جانب التعمق في فهم طبيعة دولة الإمارات وأنظمتها البيئية

Environmental awareness begins in childhood-where curiosity is nurtured into understanding, and knowledge inspires responsible action.

As part of the Emirates Villages Summer Camp, organised by the Emirates Council for Balanced Development, Emirates Nature-WWF delivered four interactive workshops for primary school students across two locations: Al Rams in Ras Al Khaimah and Al Shuwaib in Abu Dhabi, with two sessions held at each location.

Through engaging activities and discussions, students explored the importance of protecting nature, learned how plastic pollution affects people, wildlife and ecosystems, and discovered practical actions they can take to help protect our environment.



غرس الوعي البيئي يبدأ من الطفولة، حيث تتحول المعرفة إلى سلوك، والفضول إلى مسؤولية.

ضمن فعاليات مخيم صيف قرى الإمارات الذي نظمه مجلس الإمارات للتنمية المتوازنة، قدّمت جمعية الإمارات للطبيعة أربع ورش عمل تفاعلية لطلبة المرحلة الابتدائية في موقعين مختلفين: منطقة الرمس في رأس الخيمة ومنطقة الشويب في أبوظبي، بواقع جلستين في كل موقع.

من خلال أنشطة تفاعلية ونقاشات ممتعة، استكشف الطلاب أهمية الحفاظ على الطبيعة، وتعرّفوا على الآثار التي يخلّفها التلوث البلاستيكي على الإنسان والحياة الفطرية والنظم البيئية، إلى جانب خطوات عملية يمكنهم تبنيها للمساهمة في حماية البيئة
