💔 A Community Cat’s Life Lost Due to Irresponsibility

Yesterday 11th of March our community lost a young life that deserved so much better.

This sweet community cat (Garry) was left behind when a family moved away. Despite being abandoned, he survived with the help of kind residents who fed and cared for him. He was gentle, harmless, and simply trying to live.

On March 9th at 9:50am Garry was tragically attacked by a large Malamute dog that was unsupervised and not muzzled. The injuries from the attack were severe, and despite efforts to help him, the young cat did not survive.

This was not just an accident — it is a reminder that pet ownership comes with responsibility. Large dogs must be properly controlled, supervised, and handled by capable adults. When these basic responsibilities are ignored, innocent animals pay the price.

Community cats are not disposable. They are living beings who feel pain, fear, and hunger. Many were once someone’s pets before being abandoned.

We ask everyone in the community:
• Please never abandon your pets.
• Please control and properly handle your dogs.
• Please show compassion to vulnerable animals who share our neighborhoods.

Rest in peace, little one. You deserved safety, kindness, and a home. 🕊️🐾

Garry’s Story 🐾

This sweet boy is Garry. He once had a family, but they moved away and dumped him on the street, leaving him behind to survive on his own 💔

Not long after being abandoned, Garry was bitten by a large dog. Thankfully he survived, but many street cats are not so lucky. Incidents like this are a reminder of how important responsible pet ownership is.

In the UAE, large dogs should always be properly controlled, walked by responsible adults, and fitted with a muzzle when required to protect other animals and people. Allowing powerful dogs to roam without control can lead to serious injuries.

Under UAE regulations enforced by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, dog owners must:
• Keep dogs on a leash in public places
• Ensure dangerous or large breeds are muzzled when necessary
• Make sure dogs are handled by someone capable of controlling them
• Prevent their pets from harming other animals or people

Irresponsible ownership can result in fines and legal action

Garry didn’t deserve to be abandoned, and he certainly didn’t deserve to be attacked. Animals depend on humans for care and protection. If you choose to have a pet, it is a lifetime commitment.

Let Garry’s story be a reminder:
• Never abandon animals
• Control and supervise large dogs properly
• Protect vulnerable animals living on the streets

Since being abandoned about 6 months ago, Tarzan has spent his time trying to survive at the feeding station, but he just wasn't built for it. He is a timid, peaceful boy who is currently being scared away by the local colony.

He has lost weight and is hungry because other cats will not let him near the food bowls. He is not a fighter and will climb a tree to avoid potential conflict (hence his name, Tarzan).

The Good News:
Despite his rough start, he has so much love to give once he knows he is safe. He is completely disease-free and approximately 3 years old.

He needs a patient owner who will let him bloom at his own pace.
