🇦🇪 New UAE Wage Protection System (WPS) rules come into effect from 1 June 2026.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has introduced updated regulations aimed at strengthening payroll compliance, improving wage payment processes, and supporting labour market stability across the UAE.

Key updates include:

• Salaries must now be paid by the 1st day of each Gregorian month for the preceding month
• Employers will have a 10-day grace period before administrative penalties apply
• Salary payments must be processed through the approved Wage Protection System (WPS) or other MoHRE-authorised channels
• Companies will be considered compliant where at least 85% of total wages due are paid on time
• Employees will be considered paid where they receive at least 85% of their entitled salary, subject to permitted deductions

The updated framework provides greater clarity around employer obligations while reinforcing employee wage protections and payroll transparency across the private sector.

Australia’s favourite blue heeler is back at Aussie post offices! 📮🐾

Following the unprecedented success of the 2024 Bluey $1 coin collection, Australia Post has now released the Bluey $2 “Dollarbucks” coin in partnership with the Royal Australian Mint and BBC Studios.

What started as an authentically Australian family story has now become a global cultural and commercial phenomenon.

Created by Australian animator Joe Brumm and launched in 2018, Bluey has grown from a Brisbane-produced children’s show into one of the world’s biggest entertainment brands.

Children and parents spent an incredible 43.9 billion minutes — the equivalent of more than 83,000 years — watching Bluey in 2024 alone, making it the most successful Australian television show ever.

The UAE continues to present major opportunities for Australian businesses, driven by economic diversification, infrastructure investment, global connectivity, and strategic partnerships. 🇦🇺🇦🇪

At Make it in the Emirates 2026 in Abu Dhabi, these priorities were showcased across 12 industrial sectors, reinforcing the UAE’s long-term industrial and economic transformation.

Australian companies are well positioned to contribute across AI, agrifood, defence, advanced manufacturing, medical technologies, infrastructure, energy and sustainability.

His Excellency Ridwaan Jadwat, the Austrade Middle East team, and Board members from AusBG Abu Dhabi and ABC Dubai attended the largest-ever edition of the conference, highlighting the growing momentum behind Australia–UAE trade and investment ties.

For Australian businesses looking to expand into the region or build strategic partnerships, the UAE remains a dynamic and fast-evolving platform for growth.
