421 is an independent, anti-disciplinary platform dedicated to emerging artists and creative practitioners in the UAE and across the region. A site for research, learning and experimentation, 421 provides a nurturing environment for emergent creative practices and those who want to harness the arts as an agent for social inquiry and transformation. 421 encourages practitioners to explore the poten

tial of public spaces as a means for progress and community engagement through a wide-ranging programmatic model that facilitates artistic exchange and critical dialogue. Located in Abu Dhabi’s Mina Zayed, 421 presents a year-round program of exhibitions, talks, workshops, special events and educational initiatives that offer accessible learning opportunities to the wider community and the general public. Many of the 421 programs are organized in collaboration with local, regional and international partners, engaging children, students, educators, and creative professionals in a participatory approach to artistic and creative practice. These programs are designed to develop artistic and creative skills, supporting the growth of the UAE’s creative ecosystem.

Join us on Sunday, June 21 from 5 PM for the public opening reception of Dr. Ahmad AlAttar’s first solo exhibition, ‘Human in the Loop’!

Meet the artist and hear him in conversation about the ideas and processes behind the exhibition.

‘Human in the Loop’ is a sound-based interactive installation where you become part of a game between human and algorithm. Move through a field of hanging ropes, follow the sound, and find the pattern.

The work draws from a concept in robotics where systems depend on human input to function, turning that idea into an experience you walk through.

Dr. AlAttar is a participant of 421's Artistic Development Program, supporting early-career artists toward their first institutional solo exhibition.

Looking for a creative way for your kids to learn outside of the classroom? 🌏

Join us for Community Culture Club, a family-centred learning series developed with Montessori Network Middle East (MNME), a community-led Abu Dhabi initiative for homeschooling families.

Engage in a creative curriculum-based series of sessions. Each weekly session combines movement-based storytelling, hands-on art activities, playful maths and chess exercises, and cultural discovery as families journey through countries across Asia and build a collective World Map together throughout the Spring season.

From geography and wildlife to traditional crafts and culinary experiences, every session is designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and encourage learning through doing.

Special Meet the Artist sessions take place every third Friday of the month.

انضمّوا إلينا في "نادي الثقافة المجتمعية"، وهي سلسلة تعليمية تتمحور حول العائلة، طُوِّرت بالتعاون مع "شبكة مونتيسوري الشرق الأوسط"، وهي مبادرة مجتمعية في أبوظبي تعنى بالعائلات التي تعتمد التعليم المنزلي.

شاركوا في سلسلة من الجلسات المبنية على منهج إبداعي، حيث تجمع كل جلسة أسبوعية بين السرد الحركي، وأنشطة فنية تطبيقية، وتمارين حسابية وألعاب شطرنج بأسلوب مرح، إلى جانب استكشاف ثقافي يرافق العائلات في رحلة عبر بلدان آسيا، لبناء خريطة عالمية مشتركة على امتداد موسم الربيع.

من الجغرافيا والحياة البرية إلى الحرف التقليدية والتجارب المرتبطة بالطهي، صُمِّمت كل جلسة لإثارة الفضول، وبناء الثقة، وتشجيع التعلّم من خلال الممارسة.

تقام جلسات "تعرّفوا على الفنان" الخاصة في الجمعة الثالثة من كل شهر.

Meet the artist behind our upcoming exhibition ‘Human in the Loop’!

Dr. Ahmad AlAttar is a robotics engineer and artist based in Dubai whose practice moves between engineering and artistic experimentation. His work explores how emerging technologies, particularly robotics and interactive installations, can reinterpret heritage, memory, and identity.

He leads advanced robotics research at Dubai Future Labs and he's also the founder of REALIITY, an Emirati Art + Tech startup creating immersive installations that blend robotics with cultural storytelling.

‘Human in the Loop’ is his first institutional solo exhibition, developed through 421's Artistic Development Program.

يقود أبحاثاً متقدمة في مجال الروبوتات في "مختبرات دبي للمستقبل"، وهو أيضاً مؤسس "رياليتي"، وهي شركة إماراتية ناشئة تعمل في مجالات الفن والتكنولوجيا، وتطوّر أعمالاً تركيبية غامرة تمزج بين الروبوتات والسرد الثقافي.
