GLIDE was proud to sponsor this year’s Voices and Visions, hosted by the University of Queensland, bringing together health leaders, researchers and government representatives from across the Pacific to advance efforts to end neglected tropical diseases (NTDs).

Pacific island nations have made important progress towards eliminating diseases such as lymphatic filariasis and trachoma, showing the impact of local leadership, community partnerships and sustained commitment.

Thank you to all participants for sharing their experiences and insights and helping strengthen efforts to end NTDs across the region and beyond.



يفخر المعهد العالمي للقضاء على الأمراض المعدية برعاية فعالية “Voices and Visions” لهذا العام، التي استضافتها جامعة كوينزلاند، وجمعت قيادات صحية وباحثين وممثلين عن الجهات الحكومية من مختلف أنحاء المحيط الهادئ، لتعزيز جهود القضاء على الأمراض المدارية المهملة.

How can integration advance NTD elimination?

At today’s Voices and Visions meeting, hosted by The University of Queensland, GLIDE brought together countries and partners from across the Western Pacific to discuss integrating NTD treatment and surveillance into routine health systems.

We shared our recently published scoping review and heard valuable perspectives from countries across the region.

The discussion reinforced a key message: integration is not one-size-fits-all. It must build on existing systems while reflecting each country’s context, health system capacity and priorities to strengthen sustainability, reduce duplication and expand access to care.

A valuable exchange of insights to help advance more sustainable approaches to NTD elimination.

خلال اجتماع “Voices and Visions” الذي تستضيفه جامعة كوينزلاند، جمع المعهد العالمي للقضاء على الأمراض المعدية، دولاً وشركاء من مختلف أنحاء إقليم غرب المحيط الهادئ لمناقشة سبل دمج علاج الأمراض المدارية المهملة وترصّدها ضمن النظم الصحية القائمة.

واستعرضنا خلال الاجتماع دراستنا المنشورة حديثاً حول هذا الموضوع، واستمعنا إلى تجارب الدول ورؤاها بشأن فرص التكامل وتحدياته.

GLIDE and the University of Global Health Equity have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to expand opportunities for learning, leadership and knowledge exchange.

From the Disease Elimination & Eradication Course and its new Francophone edition to the Injaz Fellowship, guest lectures and learning experiences, this collaboration will help equip more people with the knowledge and skills to advance disease elimination and eradication.

وقّع المعهد العالمي للقضاء على الأمراض المعدية مذكرة تفاهم مع جامعة المساواة في الصحة العالمية، لتعزيز التعاون في مجالات التعلّم وتطوير القيادات وتبادل المعارف والخبرات في مجال الصحة العالمية.

ويشمل التعاون تطوير واستضافة دورة القضاء على الأمراض واستئصالها، وإطلاق نسخة ناطقة بالفرنسية منها، إلى جانب برنامج إنجاز للزمالة، والمحاضرات وفرص التعلّم، بما يسهم في إعداد كوادر قادرة على دفع جهود القضاء على الأمراض واستئصالها.

If you’re attending NNN, join GLIDE Connects 3.

For the first time, GLIDE Connects will be held in person, bringing together the NTD community and a wider virtual audience to examine how locally led innovation can help advance disease elimination.

Drawing on experiences from Falcon Award projects (One of GLIDE’s Flagships), the session will consider how promising approaches can move beyond individual projects and become part of sustained progress.

The conversation will also explore the conditions that enable innovation to be adapted, integrated, and scaled across different settings.

On the margins of UNGA 81, the conversation on “Smarter Investment, Greater Impact: Harnessing AI to Accelerate Disease Elimination” focused on how AI can support country-led action and help turn innovation into practical impact.

Key takeaways included stronger use of AI for decision-making, surveillance and targeted interventions, building the capacity of public health leaders to apply AI effectively, and strengthening collaboration to advance national malaria programmes.

Co-hosted by GLIDE, the RBM Partnership to End Malaria, and the Republic of Nigeria, the discussion highlighted the value of connecting expertise, innovation, and country-led action to accelerate progress towards disease elimination.



على هامش أعمال الدورة الـ81 للجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة، بحثت جلسة “استثمارات أذكى، أثر أكبر: توظيف الذكاء الاصطناعي لتسريع القضاء على الأمراض” سبل تسخير الذكاء الاصطناعي لتعزيز العمل الذي تقوده الدول، وتحويل الابتكار إلى حلول عملية وأثر مستدام.

وسلّطت النقاشات الضوء على أهمية توظيف الذكاء الاصطناعي لتحسين عملية صنع القرار، وتعزيز ترصّد الأمراض، وتوجيه الأدوات بصورة أكثر دقة وفاعلية، إلى جانب بناء القدرات اللازمة لتمكين القيادات والعاملين في مجال الصحة العامة من الاستفادة من هذه التقنيات.
