It was a great honour for the Mambo Jephitar Foundation to be invited to the Church of Christ Youth Camp, where we had the privilege of engaging young people in a meaningful and thought provoking discussion on drug and substance abuse.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to our Zvishavane District Chaplain, Pastor F Muchairi for extending the invitation and giving us the opportunity to be part of this important youth programme. We are especially grateful for his trust and companionship as he took centre stage as the presenter, leading the discussions and creating an environment where young people could openly engage, ask questions and reflect on the realities surrounding drug and substance abuse.
For us at the Mambo Jephitar Foundation, this was more than just a discussion. It was an opportunity to listen to young people, understand some of the challenges they face and remind them that their lives, dreams and potential are worth protecting.
Drug and substance abuse is not merely a social problem; it is a challenge that can affect families, education, livelihoods, mental wellbeing and the future prospects of our young people. Addressing it therefore requires more than condemnation. It requires education, mentorship, spiritual guidance, supportive communities, opportunities and meaningful conversations with young people.
We firmly believe that prevention begins with awareness, empowerment and creating environments where young people can make informed and positive choices.
We are deeply honoured to have been part of this programme and grateful to the Church of Christ for creating a platform where such important conversations can take place.
As the Mambo Jephitar Foundation, we remain committed to our mission of empowering young people, promoting education, fighting drug and substance abuse, and creating opportunities for a brighter and more purposeful future.
To every young person who participated: your future matters. Your dreams matter. Your choices today can shape the person you become tomorrow.
Together, let us continue building communities where young people are not defined by their challenges, but empowered by their potential.
