Sports for Development Association of Zimbabwe was formed in July 2011, to achieve the following objectives:
2.1.1 To promote a joy or interest in Sports and a healthy lifestyle amongst the people, especially among young people of both sexes;
2.1.2 To use the popularity of Sports as an entry point to raise awareness on development issues;
2.1.3 To set up and empow
er Sports teams or clubs to advance the concept of Sports for development and other objectives of the Association;
2.1.4 To bring together Sports stakeholders, Sports-for-development actors and media to increase the knowledge and expertise about the potential impact of Sports to promote development and to give a positive social change within the country;
2.1.5 To facilitate internal and cross-border Sports programmes linked with exchange tours of mixed Zimbabwean youth teams;
2.1.6 To develop young Sports talent through amateur-level coaching and other interventions;
2.1.7 To promote the participation of Sports teams affiliated to the Association in Sports competitions, leagues, and other related activities;
2.1.8 To promote in players a sense of fair play, Sports manship and loyalty;
2.1.9 To promote and strengthen networking between and among Sports fans and other stakeholders;
2.1.10 Promoting the concept of appointing Sports stars as development ambassadors;
2.1.11 To participate in philanthropic activities for the wider community as part of the Association’s social responsibility; and
2.1.12 To carry out any other activities that shall be decided by the Association’s decision making structures.
