Meet our youthful enumerators who will be working together with our Research Consultancy team in implementing our research-based advocacy initiative on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for Persons with Disabilities under the project:

“Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights for Persons with Disabilities through Research and Advocacy in Mutare District.”

These young professionals are playing a vital role in data collection, community engagement, and amplifying the voices and experiences of persons with disabilities. Their dedication and passion for inclusion, equality, and evidence-based advocacy will contribute greatly towards promoting accessible and inclusive SRHR services and policies in Mutare District.

Together, we are advancing disability inclusion, human rights, and meaningful participation for all.

Zimbabwe Youth For Impaired Persons Trust is currently conducting community interviews across several suburbs in Mutare District to better understand the challenges young people with disabilities face in accessing Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services.

This important work is being carried out under our programme, Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights for Persons with Disabilities through Research and Advocacy.

Through these engagements, we are amplifying voices, gathering lived experiences, and strengthening evidence to advocate for inclusive, accessible, and responsive SRH services for all.

We stand in unwavering solidarity with women with disabilities, who face the double burden of gender-based violence and harmful stigma. Every woman deserves to live free from violence, discrimination, and exclusion, with her dignity, voice, and rights fully respected. Together, we must challenge injustice, amplify their voices, and build inclusive communities where safety and equality are a reality for all.

Zimbabwe Youth For Impaired Persons Trust was honored to participate as a panelist in the selection process for the 2026 Junior Council hosted by Mutare City Council on 10 March 2026.

Our Director joined other panelists and disability experts in a process that strongly reflected the importance of inclusion, equal opportunity, and youth participation. It was encouraging to witness a selection process that deliberately ensured the participation of students of different abilities, demonstrating that leadership spaces must be accessible to all young people.

We sincerely appreciate Mutare City Council for its continued commitment to promoting inclusivity in community development, service delivery, and civic participation. Initiatives such as the Junior Council play a critical role in nurturing young leaders and creating platforms where young people can speak for themselves, share their ideas, and contribute meaningfully to the future of our communities.

At Zimbabwe Youth For Impaired Persons Trust, we strongly believe that inclusive leadership begins with creating opportunities for every young person, including those with disabilities, to participate and lead.

We look forward to continued collaboration in advancing disability inclusion, youth empowerment, and accessible leadership opportunities in our communities.

Strengthening Inclusive Policy Through Participation

Today, the Programs Coordinator for (ZYIPT) attended the public consultations organized by the at .

The consultations focused on proposed legislation addressing biological and toxin weapons as well as national efforts to control drug and substance abuse. These discussions provide an important platform for citizens and organizations to contribute their perspectives toward shaping policies that promote national security, public health, and community wellbeing.

During the meeting, ZYIPT represented the voices and concerns of young people with disabilities, emphasizing the importance of inclusive policies, accessible information, and prevention and support programs that reach all young people.

As an organization, ZYIPT remains committed to complementing government efforts, bridging existing gaps, and amplifying the voices of young people with disabilities in national development processes. Insights gained from this engagement will also help inform and strengthen our future programs and advocacy work.

Together, we continue to promote inclusive participation and a Zimbabwe where young people with disabilities are heard and represented in national decisions.

Young people are not just beneficiaries of change — we are leaders, advocates, and drivers of transformation. Across our communities, young people, including young persons with disabilities, are standing up to demand their Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and to shape services and policies that truly reflect our realities.
When young people take the lead, conversations shift. Barriers are challenged. Silence is broken. We bring lived experiences, bold ideas, and innovative solutions to the table — ensuring that health services are accessible, inclusive, youth-friendly, and disability-inclusive.
Inclusive SRHR means no one is left behind. It means meaningful participation in decision-making processes. It means policies designed with us, not just for us.
Through this initiative led by Zimbabwe Youth for Impaired Persons Trust (ZYIPT) in partnership with the International Disability Alliance (IDA), young voices are being amplified, capacities are being strengthened, and advocacy is being driven from the grassroots to influence real change.
The future of inclusive Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights is youth-led — and the time is now.
