Registered NGO that seeks to empower society to master emerging technologies as essential tools for sustainable development and independently watchdogging the impact of ICTs on the environment and society for the good of the people and our planet ICTAZ is registered not-for-profit organization operating in Zimbabwe that seeks to help the capacity of the Zimbabwean society to harness the tremendous

potential of ICTs in fostering sustainable development. The organization was formed in December 2010 as a Provincial ICT Association by dynamic ICT enthusiasts avid for developing ICT-enabled collaborative pathways to wicked problems in society. In November 2011, it was officially launched as a National Association by the Ministry of ICT and endorsed as a collaborating partner to the Ministry in its undertaking to transform Zimbabwe into a knowledge society by 2020. The Organization hopes that through ICT standards development, research and development, industry and consumer rights advocacy as well as training and capacity building: it will help citizens to obtain a greater appreciation for the potential that ICTs hold for national development, and of the important benefits that can accrue to the nation if its citizens fully exploit these benefits. ICTAZ, for its part, is dedicated to working closely with development organizations, underserved and marginalized communities, and the broader ICT community; to realize the full potential of ICTs for sustainable national socio-economic development. It will therefore facilitate a plaform for coordinated approach which will offer a potentially powerful mechanism for promoting ICTs as essential tools and catalysts for this development across many dimensions. In advancing its Mission, ICTAZ emphasizes the indispensable interrelationship between the environment and other dimensions of development: economic, social and cultural.
