“I didn’t think I would make it…”

8,000 women gathered for the East Zimbabwe Conference, Women’s Congress in Marondera. Some were ferried by buses provided by Gaps Foundation. Some non SDA and others who could not afford.

And for 44 of them… it became more than a journey.
It became a new beginning through baptism into the SDA church.

From barriers to breakthrough.

From assessment to action. Following our needs assessment in October 2025, BGF donated medical-grade SolarGuard sunscreen and lip balms to ALCOZ — locally manufactured by the University of Zimbabwe. Because every life deserves protection. 🇿🇼

Heroes do not always wear capes. Sometimes they wear scrubs, PPE, and the biggest hearts.

During COVID-19, our Arundel Hospital staff stood on the frontline, fighting fear with courage and saving lives with compassion.

Today, they continue to serve with the same strength and faith.

This post is for every Zimbabwean nurse, doctor, cleaner, driver, and volunteer who made our health and wellness journey possible.

Healthcare is more than treatment. It is dignity, comfort and hope.

Samuel Makomo, one of our former patients at Arundel Hospital from Dzivarashekwa shares his gratitude about the care he received at Arundel Hospital during one of our health expos.

His story reminds us why we serve: to bring lasting health & wellness to every community

Five years ago, we began our health & wellness journey in earnest with the fight against COVID-19. Today, our resolve is stronger than ever.

In 2020, we allocated US $3 million toward equipment and supplies to combat COVID-19; an investment that kick-started our health journey and prepared for the opening of Arundel Hospital.

As part of this initiative, additional funding was allocated to public hospitals including Parirenyatwa and United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH). From ventilators to rapid test kits, these resources strengthened the national response and saved lives.

What started as an emergency response has grown into a long-term commitment to health and wellness for all.

To cushion the 55 children currently at Newstart Children’s Home during the cold winter BGF donated blankets. Newstart Children’s Home is a Seventh-day Adventist institution founded in 1999 by Dr. and Mrs. Saleem A. Farag.
Through their efforts and collaboration with Crest Breeders they were donated a piece of land and started a home which officially opened in 2001 and at its peak cared for 63 children, providing a haven for children. Sadly Dr. Farag passed away last year, but his mission, vision and dedication to caring for children with the founding principles of compassion, care and hope still lives on.
