Today is International Human Rights Day, recognizing that all human beings should have basic human rights, regardless of age, skin colour, gender identity, religion, nationality, economic status, or different abilities. As MAYO we strongly advocate for the inclusion of the marginalised communities especially women, girls and youth.

2025 Theme – Human Rights, Our Everyday Essentials

International Human Rights Day is observed annually around the world on 10 December. It commemorates the anniversary of one of the world's most groundbreaking global pledges: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). This landmark document enshrines the inalienable rights that everyone is entitled to as a human being regardless of race, colour, religion, s*x, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.

Congratulations Dr Abel Mavura

Celebrating Zimbabwean Academic Excellence🇿🇼🇬🇧🎓

Abel Mavura, a Zimbabwean doctoral researcher currently based in the UK, has been awarded the prestigious Clutton-Brock Cambridge Studentship to pursue an MPhil/PhD in Architecture and Urban Studies at the University of Cambridge, starting in October 2025.

A few weeks ago, he became the first African doctoral researcher to receive the Margaret Mead Memorial Award, presented by the International Society for the Systems Sciences and the International Federation for Systems Research. Abel will also receive the Zimbabwe Global Achievers Award later this year for his outstanding contributions as part of the diaspora.
