Excited to chair the online discussion with IAS members from Africa discussing the latest HIV injectable treatment "Lenacapavir : Recent results in HIV prevention".

Lenacapavir was recently tested in Africa as an injection for prevention of HIV and proved that 99,9% of people who used Lenacapavir were not acquiring HIV(WHO Sept 2024) .

As a treatment option, people living with HIV taking Lenacapavir had their viral load suppressed within 52 weeks.

Not all caterpillarswill become butterflies, some think it's impossible while some enjoy temporary comfort zones that delay change. Temporary comfort include: Acceptance- Many will never change because they do not want people to think they have pride or they're deviant. They still enjoy being called nice.
Free rides, food n s*x: often times people getting free rides will limit themselves the opportunity to buy their own cars. People receiving free s*x from their besties might limit themselves a committed relationship or marriage.
Monthly income: your salary might be a barrier between you and your own business.
You will definitely change the day you will decide to let go off the temporary zones and accept being labeled deviant and different.

From the 11th of March our Muslim brothers and sisters are embarking in the Ramadan fasting till 14 April. In these days of self denial and sacrifice remember in your prayers that
Palestinians fear Israeli violence in Jerusalem during Ramadan- i stand in solidarity with Palestinian refugees, mothers and children that are hit the hardest. In your prayers remember also Muslim families in Sudan fasting amidst the ongoing violence and war in Sudan which has exacerbated food insecurity making Sudan the current world’s largest hunger crisis.

"Religion is the o***m of the poor " a common fact and phrase the most of us Zimbabwean men and women continuously repress daily. I'm still trying to imagine what the mental state of a girl from the apostlic sect (mapostori)who has been married off to a man twice her age old enough to be her great grandfather. A plea to the responsible authorities to bridge these gaps in religion and protect the girl child. Religion can play a significant role in empowering girls by providing them with a sense of identity, community support, and moral guidance. These religious institutions often offer educational and leadership opportunities for girls, helping them develop skills and confidence. One good example is The ZAOGA/FIF in Zimbabwe established ZEGU university to which is a source of inspiration for man women and girls.
Religious leaders like Lin Marad and Chaplin Phiri are all examples of inspiration for the young girls and women.
Overally, religion can be a source of empowerment for girls when its teachings promote their rights, dignity, and opportunities for personal and social development.
