Luke 12:35-40 explains that those who desire to live in God's kingdom must be ready for its arrival. Jesus told His disciples to hold on to their integrity more tightly than to their lives (Luke 12:1-12). He also taught them not to worry about wealth or even the necessities of life, but instead to trust God for their needs while they wait like servants for their master’s return (Luke 12:13–34).
This is how we ought to live as followers of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ keeping our lamps burning and remaining ready for His return. Like servants waiting for their master, not knowing when he will come, we must stay awake and prepared to receive and serve him.
In the same way, Jesus calls His followers to remain alert and ready for His return.
