πŸ₯¬πŸŒ± Cabbage Farming in Zimbabwe – A Profitable Venture! 🌱πŸ₯¬

Did you know?

In Zimbabwe, cabbage is one of the most widely grown vegetables, especially in rural and peri-urban areas. With proper management, farmers can harvest up to 60,000 heads of cabbage per hectare – making it one of the most profitable and fast-selling horticultural crops in local markets.

As Zimbabwe Women Agribusiness Network (ZWAN), we encourage women and youth to take advantage of such opportunities in agribusiness.

Cabbage farming not only brings nutrition to families but also creates income, jobs, and sustainable livelihoods in line with Vision 2030 and the goal of Zero Hunger.

πŸ’‘ Farming with purpose is farming for the future!

πŸ‡πŸŒ± Rabbit Farming – Small Stock, Big Opportunities! πŸŒ±πŸ‡

Zimbabwe Women Agribusiness Network (ZWAN) believes in exploring farming opportunities that are profitable, sustainable, and easy to manage for women and youth. Rabbit farming is one such venture!

βœ… Rabbits require little space and are low-maintenance.

βœ… They reproduce quickly, ensuring continuous income.

βœ… Rabbit meat is lean, healthy, and increasingly in demand.

βœ… By-products such as manure and fur create additional income streams.

With proper training and support, women and young people can transform rabbit farming into a profitable agribusiness venture that strengthens families, contributes to food security.

At ZWAN, we are committed to empowering women and youth with the skills and knowledge to turn small stock farming into big success stories. πŸ’ͺ🏾✨

πŸ„ Empowering Women Through Mushroom Farming in Macheke! πŸŒΎπŸ”πŸŒΏ

On 5 August 2025, ZWAN held a hands-on mushroom farming training at Mt View in Macheke, Mashonaland East, where local farmers, mostly women, were equipped with the skills to grow oyster mushrooms from start to harvest! πŸŽ“πŸ‘©πŸ½β€πŸŒΎ

During the training, ZWAN Executive Director Ms. Phillipa Jaya encouraged participants to use the proceeds from mushroom farming as a stepping stone to diversify into other agribusiness ventures such as to***co farming, poultry, grain production, and horticulture.

β€œDon’t depend on one income stream. Let mushrooms be the beginning of many agribusiness opportunities,” she said.

All participants received certificates of completion, symbolizing not just knowledge gained, but a new chapter of self-reliance and income generation. πŸ’ΌπŸ’ͺ🏾

βœ… High market demand

βœ… Strong potential for value addition

Women are not just farming soybeans, they're building legacies.

πŸ‘©πŸΎβ€πŸŒΎπŸ’ͺ🏽 "When you empower one rural woman, you lift an entire community." 🌍

This is more than a statement, it's a truth we see in action every day.

Through training in sustainable crop management methods, poultry farming, mushroom farming, tree grafting, goat rearing, and agro-processing, rural women are transforming their households, communities, and the agricultural landscape of Zimbabwe.

Each empowered woman becomes a source of knowledge, income, resilience, and hope, multiplying impact far beyond herself.

🌱 Empower her. Support her. Walk with her.

Together, we are cultivating a stronger, greener, more food-secure nation.
