*Manyame Wings of Empowerment Women’s Association (WEWA) chapter, spreads its wings and gifts vulnerable adolescent boys and girls !!!!!*

In a touching celebration of Mother’s Day, the Manyame Wings of Empowerment Women’s Association chapter, led by the AFZ Wings of Empowerment Women’s Association, Manyame Air Force Base Chapter Chairlady, Mrs Matsambira, together with members of WEWA, once again demonstrated the true meaning of compassion, unity and service to the community surrounding Manyame Air Force Base.

Driven by their commitment to uplifting vulnerable members of society, the association reached out to Danckwerts Primary School children through a heartfelt donation of sanitary pads, clothing and stationery. The initiative was more than just a charitable gesture, it was a message of hope, dignity and love to children who often face life’s challenges with limited resources.

The atmosphere was filled with warmth and joy as members of the association interacted with the children, sharing smiles, encouragement and motherly care. The donated sanitary wear aims at restoring confidence and dignity to young girls, ensuring that they can continue pursuing their education without interruption. The stationery and clothing provided much-needed support to the children’s daily lives and academic journeys.

Speaking through their actions, the Wings of Empowerment Women Association continues to embody the values of empowerment, humanity and nation-building. Their Mother’s Day outreach reflected the nurturing spirit of motherhood, a spirit that extends beyond biological families to embrace the wider community.

The event also highlighted the important role played by military families in community development and social responsibility. While the Air Force of Zimbabwe remains dedicated to safeguarding the nation, its women and spouses continue to serve as pillars of compassion and empowerment off the field, touching lives and inspiring hope among the less privileged.

As laughter echoed and grateful smiles lit up the faces of the children, the day stood as a beautiful reminder that small acts of kindness can leave lasting footprints in the hearts of many. Through initiatives like these, the Wings of Empowerment Women Association continues to spread its wings of love, care and empowerment across communities, truly living up to its name.
Special thanks to Mrs Sibonile Nzvede , the Chairperson for the AFZ Wings of Empowerment Women’s Association for being such a visionary leader and seeing all these initiatives to fruition.

AFZ Wings of Empowerment Women’s Association was represented well in the Gweru District Agricultural Show this year. Their participation in the show was in support of the then Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development (now Ministry of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Water Resources Development) that hosts and leads the high-level drive for food security in Zimbabwe.
The AFZ Women’s Group – WEWA, led by its chairperson, Mrs Nzvede who encourages hard work and entrepreneurship amongst its members have since started reaping the fruits of their hard work. The Gweru Chapter pioneered an Agriculture Project as part of the many empowerment projects under the Association. The members of WEWA JT Chapter agricultural project, ventured into meaningful crop farming projects which saw to them participating in the Gweru District Agricultural Show that was held on 09 April 2026 in Gweru. Gweru District top farmers, including Mrs Bunu, gave a showcase of Agricultural Crops for the 2025 to 2026 season.
After assessment of the various showcased produce, Mrs Bhunu was awarded the Farmer of the year, a title that shows how women are actively working towards Zimbabwe regaining its name as the Breadbasket of Africa.
