As the day progressed during the World Population Day commemorationAnnie Mkandavirembers, Mr Anyway Mkandavire , had the honour of sharing the stage with His Excellency, the Child President Mr Tinashe Mugochi .He also served as one of the panellists, where he shared his entrepreneurial journey and the challenges he has faced as a young entrepreneur.

One of the key issues he highlighted was the skills mismatch between the education system and the labour market. Many young people graduate with academic qualifications but often lack the practical, technical, and soft skills that employers are looking for. As a result, many struggle to secure meaningful employment despite being qualified.

The discussion emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between educational institutions, employers, and policymakers to ensure that training programmes are aligned with current labour market demands. Greater investment in vocational training, digital literacy, entrepreneurship education, internships, and work-based learning can better prepare young people for the realities of today’s job market and equip them to create opportunities for themselves.

His contribution served as a powerful reminder that empowering young people requires more than education alone it requires equipping them with relevant skills, creating opportunities, and fostering an enabling environment where they can thrive.

Florence recently participated in our Capacity Building Training, where she gained valuable knowledge in Financial Policy, Strategic Planning, and Human Resources (HR).

Through this training, Florence strengthened her understanding of effective organizational management, sound financial practices, and strategic decision-making skills that will help Youth Engagement Initiative continue to grow, serve, and create meaningful impact for young people.

🌟 Investing in Young Leaders! 🌟

We are proud to share that some of our youth members recently participated in the Youth Economic Empowerment, Advocacy and Climate Action Bootcamp organized Yet Trust in partnership with Plan International Zimbabwe under the Safe and Inclusive Cities Project.

The bootcamp provided a valuable platform for young people to strengthen their leadership skills, enhance teamwork, and gain knowledge in youth economic empowerment, advocacy, and climate action. Through interactive sessions and networking opportunities, participants were empowered with the tools and confidence needed to lead with purpose and contribute positively to sustainable community development.

We extend our sincere appreciation to trust and Plan International Zimbabwe for organizing this impactful initiative and for investing in the growth and empowerment of young leaders. We look forward to seeing the knowledge and experiences gained being translated into meaningful action within our communities.

We are currently engaging in a dynamic Linking and Learning Workshop, that bringing together young people, parents, youth-led organizations, and faith-based representatives to share experiences and insights.

Powerful conversations are unfolding around positive masculinity, with participants reflecting on how gender-transformative interventions are driving meaningful behavior change among young adolescents.

We are also unpacking the realities and impact of gender-based violence on young people, while creating a safe and inclusive space for dialogue, learning, and collective action.

Together, we are strengthening community voices and building a future grounded in equality, respect, and empowerment 🔥🔥

As young people who are concerned about their future ,we as Youth Engagement Initiative ,with Plan International Zimbabwe carried out a community clean-up campaign as part of our commitment to climate action. 🌍♻️

Environmental pollution and poor waste management contribute to climate change and affect the health of our communities. By keeping our surroundings clean, we are taking small but meaningful steps toward protecting our planet.

Young people have the power to lead change. Together, we can build cleaner, greener, and more sustainable communities for today and future generations. 🌱

We also recognize that healthy environments support healthy lives, which is essential for advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for young people in our communities.
