One day, we will all realise just how far ahead Dr. Dokora had seen the future. I am 3000% confident that he had already envisioned the foundational requirements for Vision 2030β€”thanks to the Second Republic, which saw wisdom in his vision and introduced Education 5.0.

πŸ“’ BIG ANNOUNCEMENT COMING SOON! πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡ΌπŸ€

The Indigenous Advisory Practitioners Association of Zimbabwe (IAPAZ) is preparing to unveil a groundbreaking roadmap that will reshape cooperative education in our nation – from the ground up! πŸš€

What's brewing? A comprehensive roll-out plan to embed Cooperative Principle #5 (Education, Training & Information) across ALL levels of our education system:

πŸŽ’ Kindergatten – planting seeds of cooperation early
πŸ“š Primary & Secondary – building cooperative mindsets from youth
πŸŽ“ Tertiary & Professional Education – producing skilled, certified co-op practitioners

Why this matters NOW:

This initiative directly complements the Government of Zimbabwe's National Cooperative Development Policy 2025-2030, which envisions cooperatives as powerful drivers of:
βœ… Formalisation – moving informal enterprises into structured, regulated co-ops
βœ… Inclusive Development – leaving no community behind
βœ… Socio-Economic Transformation – creating jobs, wealth, and resilience

The IAPAZ Vision:
We believe that professionalised cooperatives – built on a foundation of continuous learning and access to tools, insights, and information – are the missing link to achieving real, sustainable development in Zimbabwe.

When cooperators are well-trained, they:
βœ”οΈ Govern transparently
βœ”οΈ Manage finances professionally
βœ”οΈ Innovate and adapt
βœ”οΈ Drive community empowerment from within

Mark your calendars! Our full roll-out strategy will be announced soon – a game-changer for Zimbabwe's cooperative sector! πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡ΌπŸ’ͺ

πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡ΌπŸ‡°πŸ‡ͺ BENCHMARKING EXCELLENCE: INSIGHTS FROM KENYA’S COOPERATIVE GIANT

As part of our ongoing cooperative benchmarking tour in Kenya, the IAPAZ delegation, alongside the Zimbabwean team led by Hon. Deputy Minister of Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Dev. Hon K. Mutimbanyoka (MP), had the distinct honour of engaging with the Senior Management of Mwalimu National .

Mwalimu is a true African success storyβ€”one of the largest Deposit-Taking Savings and Credit Cooperatives on the continent. The sheer scale of their operations is awe-inspiring:
βœ… 170,000+ active members
βœ… KSh 100 billion+ in assets
βœ… KSh 80 billion+ loan book
βœ… 95%+ customer satisfaction index

Key Strategic Lessons for Zimbabwe:

During our high-level discussions, the Mwalimu team shared the foundational pillars of their success, which hold profound lessons for our own cooperative movement back home are,

Unwavering Adherence to Principles: They emphasized that achieving this scale is impossible without strictly adhering to the letter and spirit of the 7 Cooperative Principles.

Governance ,Education & Training is Everything: Major investment must be directed toward Cooperative Principle #5 (Education, Training, and Information) combined with a robust, transparent governance framework. Trust is their currency.

Savings as a National DNA: They shared a powerful philosophyβ€”savings should not just be a habit, but a way of life; it must become the cultural DNA of the nation.

The Multi-Stakeholder Call to Action:

However, the team reminded us that building a savings culture and cooperative excellence is not the work of one entity alone. It demands a multi-stakeholder responsibility involving:
🏘️ Communities
🀝 Cooperatives themselves
πŸ›οΈ Regulators & Monetary Authorities
πŸ—³οΈ Political Leaders
🌍 Development Agencies

Zimbabwe has the human capital, the will, and the resources. By embracing these principles and fostering this collective responsibility, we can build our own cooperative giants that drive inclusive socio-economic growth.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the leadership of Mwalimu National DT SACCO for their transparency, wisdom, and warm hospitality. The bridges we are building today will pave the way for shared prosperity tomorrow.
