Tariro Half-Way Home

Tariro Half-Way Home Tariro Half-Way Home is a registered Welfare Organisation whose purpose is to rehabilitate mentally ill patients after discharge from mental institutions.

Tariro Half-Way Home rehabilitates mentally ill persons after their discharge from mental institutions. Tariro acts as a half-way stopor bridge between the mental instutions and the society. This phase is critical for the continued recovery of patients as history has shown that most patients suffer rejection by relatives due to the considerable stigma attached to mental illness in Zimbabwe. Tariro

operates two homes: one in Glenview, a suburb of Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe. The other home is in Beatrice, a rural area about 100km from Harare. Tariro was started by Rudo Nyamuswa in 1980.
