A Tribute to Christine "Tine" Ward

Today, the Women Advocacy Project (WAP) joins Rockflower Fund (USA) in paying tribute to the remarkable life and legacy of Christine "Tine" Ward, Founder and CEO of Rockflower. Tine passed away on March 27, 2025, at her home in Rhode Island, leaving behind a profound impact on the lives she touched.

Tine Ward was a remarkable woman with a heart for humanity and an unwavering commitment to empowering marginalized communities. As a visionary leader, she dedicated her life to radically reimagining social investment and development aid. Her pioneering approach focused on channeling funds directly to grassroots changemakers, who develop practical, community-driven solutions to address local challenges.

This simple yet transformative philosophy continues to inspire and uplift countless lives around the world. In Zimbabwe, the Women Advocacy Project (WAP) has been privileged to be one of Rockflower's partners since 2016. Under the leadership of Constance Mugari, WAP's Founder and Executive Director, Tine's vision has had a profound impact on WAP's work, enabling us to drive meaningful change and improve the lives of women and girls in our communities.

Rockflower's far-reaching impact, touching the lives of millions of women and girls, stands as a testament to Tine's unwavering conviction that incremental, daily improvements can collectively move mountains. Through her visionary work, Tine reminded us that genuine transformation begins within – in the uncharted, often uncomfortable spaces where truth and authenticity reside.

With boundless compassion and wisdom, Tine nurtured movements, mentored marginalized voices, and redefined the contours of leadership. She embodied unconditional love and generosity, stewarding these gifts with remarkable humility and grace. Her legacy continues to inspire and empower, illuminating the path forward for countless individuals and communities worldwide.

Today, as we pause to reflect on Tine's extraordinary life, the Women Advocacy Project proudly honors her memory and celebrates her enduring legacy. Her groundbreaking work and unwavering dedication to empowering women and girls will continue to inspire and uplift generations to come.

Tine Ward's enduring legacy ignites a beacon of loving kindness, inspiring all who knew her to carry forward her torch of compassion and empathy. Rest in power, Tine. Your impact extends far beyond a lasting legacy – you launched a movement that will continue to uplift and empower generations to come. Your light hasn't faded; it has illuminated the path forward, guiding us toward a brighter future.

Tine, though you may be gone, your memory and legacy will never fade. You will live on forever in our hearts, and your impact will continue to inspire and transform many lives. May your soul rest in eternal peace. We love you now and forever, and will cherish the memories of your extraordinary life.
