As we raise awareness during Mental Health Awareness Month 2026, REPSSI reminds us that protecting children’s mental wellbeing is not the responsibility of one person or one institution alone, it is a collective responsibility.

Children thrive when they are surrounded by safe relationships, supportive communities, and environments where they feel heard, protected, valued, and loved. A good day for a child is not built by perfection, but through everyday moments of care, connection, belonging, and hope.

From homes and schools to churches, institutions, and communities, every interaction matters. Every safe conversation, every supportive adult, and every act of protection helps create another good day for a child.

This month, let us move beyond awareness into action by creating spaces where children can laugh, learn, play, heal, and dream without fear.

Because safe children build strong minds, and strong minds shape hopeful futures.

REPSSI Zimbabwe is proud to support the Government of Zimbabwe in strengthening national child protection frameworks. 🇿🇼✨

This week, our Programmes Manager had the privilege of facilitating a technical presentation on the National Psychosocial Support (PSS) Guidelines for Children and Young People at the ongoing induction and in-service training workshop for Social Development Officers.

These comprehensive guidelines were developed with technical support from REPSSI, acting as a committed partner to the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare (MoPSLSW). By equipping frontline Social Development Officers from districts across the nation with these tools, we are collectively ensuring that mental health and psychosocial support are deeply integrated into community-led child protection.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Ministry for their unwavering leadership and for granting us the platform to facilitate at this critical national space. Together, we continue to nurture the resilience and well-being of Zimbabwe's children and youth.

From engaging conversations to meaningful connections with partners, children, young people and community members. These moments captured as we attend this year’s ZITF reflects REPSSI Zimbabwe’s commitment to strengthening integration of mental health and psychosocial support services, to disability inclusion and accessible SRHR services to adolescent and young people.

Each image tells a story of collaboration, learning, as well as reflections on the powerful engagements, shared experiences, significant dialogues with adolescents, young people, partners, and community members.

At ZITF 2026, we enjoyed a vibrant space for connection, learning, and dialogue. From insightful discussions on mental health and psychosocial support, to raising awareness on sexual and reproductive health and rights, every interaction was a step toward building stronger and supportive communities.

We witnessed young people who are eager to learn, young people opening up to their realities, stakeholders leaning in and communities on a mission to ensure no young person is left behind.

ZITF 2026 was a reminder that change begins with connection, and that together we can shape environments where children and young people feel supported, informed and empowered to thrive.

✨ As we look back at our March engagements… ✨

Following the abrupt termination of the USAID‑funded Young Entrepreneurs Zimbabwe Arise (YEZA) Activity, REPSSI Zimbabwe’s leadership felt it was essential to conduct a post‑exit courtesy visit across Matabeleland districts. The purpose was to honour partnerships with the GoZ , local authorities and partners, provide closure, and demonstrate transparency and accountability to government counterparts. By returning to meet local authorities, REPSSI sought to express appreciation, formally hand over pending equipment donations, and reassure partners that despite external circumstances, the organisation remains committed to ethical collaboration and sustaining gains made with youth.

Led by Mrs. Sibusisiwe Bhebhe‑Marunda (Country Director), Mrs. Dorica Mawarire (Finance Manager), and Mr. Moreblessing Manditsera (Programmes Manager, former Chief of Party for the project), the delegation engaged in meaningful discussions with district leaders. In Bulilima, officials highlighted the persisting HIV burden and high youth migration, underscoring the need for continued partnership. In Bulawayo, the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training emphasised the importance of digital inclusion, welcoming the donation of computers to sustain youth programming. In Matobo, Tsholotsho, and Bubi, leaders expressed appreciation for REPSSI’s integrity in returning for proper closure, while also voicing concerns about limited livelihood opportunities for rural youth and the need for expanded entrepreneurship and skills development.

REPSSI donated a total of 12 brand new desktop computers, as a gesture to sustain gains on digital inclusion that had been acrued by the project. This mission strengthened goodwill and trust, laying a solid foundation for future programming in youth empowerment, health, mental health, climate resilience, disaster risk reduction, and livelihoods. REPSSI thanks all district leaders and partners (DotYoth, BVTA, MYDI) for their continued collaboration. Together, we remain committed to building resilient, empowered communities across Zimbabwe and beyond.

COVID-19 changed lives across Zimbabwe, but it also revealed the strength, resilience, and compassion within our communities. As REPSSI, we honour those we lost and celebrate the dedication of frontline workers, caregivers, and children who continue to rise above adversity.
