"It takes a community to raise a child."
This timeless African proverb reminds us that protecting children is a shared responsibility, one that calls for the commitment of families, communities, traditional leaders, government institutions, and every individual.
Guided by this principle, communities across Mbire and Chiredzi Districts have, over the past two weeks, come together for Child Protection Community Dialogues under the PREaCH Project. The dialogues brought together parents, caregivers, traditional leaders, young people, and government stakeholders to openly discuss pressing child protection issues, including child marriage, child labour, violence against children, positive parenting, and strengthening community-based child protection systems.
Through open dialogue and shared learning, communities are identifying practical, locally driven solutions, challenging harmful social norms, and strengthening their collective commitment to ensuring that every child grows up in a safe, nurturing, and protective environment.
When communities come together, children are safer. Together, we can create a future where every child is protected, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.
