Medical Doctor | MSc Medical Physiology Candidate | Aspiring Scientist & Health Innovator
I am a medical doctor currently pursuing an MSc in Medical Physiology, with a growing passion for medical sciences, research innovation, and building sustainable healthcare solutions in Africa. My research explores is driven by a desire to bridge African knowledge systems with rigorous scientific discovery.
The Talia Women’s Network Uplift Program came at a time when I was evolving academically, professionally, and personally. It stretched my thinking beyond survival and into significance. Through powerful conversations, mentorship, and authentic sisterhood, I began to see myself not just as a doctor in training, but as a future scientist, builder, and leader. Talia helped me own my voice, refine my vision, and believe that excellence is not arrogance but it is responsibility. It reminded me that impact begins with courage.

Placidia Chiwita is a Zimbabwean writer and tourism professional with a deep love for stories—both human and wild. With a background in Tourism and Hospitality and experience in front office administration and data management, she blends precision with creativity in everything she does. She is the author of a published novel and short story, and her work spans contemporary fiction, romance, and literary storytelling. Passionate about wildlife conservation, she also writes articles highlighting iconic African lions and the complex realities surrounding their survival. Whether crafting emotionally layered fiction, advocating for conservation, or pursuing leadership opportunities, Placidia is driven by purpose, growth, and impact. At her core, she is a storyteller—committed to telling stories that matter.

Samantha runs an organization called Wangu that mentors and nurtures young people in their career development and business sector.
She is also running a running a preschool where we nurture future leaders. She believes in planting the seed in the little ones' minds. Samantha believes in touching people's lives and leaving a mark.

We are built on strong values of trust, punctuality, and customer care. Our services range from airport pick-ups and package deliveries to transportation needs such as school runs. Wherever an errand is needed, The Errand Girl shows up—on time and with care.

Olive Thomas

UPLIFT Cohort …
Olive Thomas is a medical scientist and an avid youth health advocate. She has conceptualized and led different community-centric health programs to promote a healthy living and advocate for equitable health care services and delivery for all. Joining the UPLIFT program gave her a JUMPSTART on this journey. The program sharpened her leadership skills, knowledge on how to be socially aware of the different communities she serves and how to curate programs that meaningfully make impact. To date, she has served over 3,000 people in different communities through health education, disease awareness, advocacy for better health care delivery and access for everyone and voluntary diagnostic services delivery. Her work has earned her a seat as one of the 200 Leaders of Tomorrow at the St Gallen Symposium (2025), a YALI RLC SA cohort 24 (2024) and a participant of the Africa CDC Youth Program (2023). Going forward, Olive aspires to see more people living healthier lives, having access to knowledge, services and delivery of proper health care, freely and fairly.

I am Nyasha Musimwa — a Social Worker and community-focused practitioner who believes real change begins where dignity, equity, and compassion meet action. My work is rooted in social work values: respect for human worth, collective responsibility, and practical solutions that respond to real needs. My experience includes serving as a Programming Assistant in the NGO space, supporting initiatives that strengthen communities and expand access to opportunities. I’ve also volunteered in health and community settings, offering psychosocial support and walking alongside individuals during vulnerable seasons. I am passionate about systems that work for people, not just policies that sound good on paper. In this Women’s Year, I’m committed to community-driven progress that leaves no one behind.

Nyasha Grace Manzou is a passionate youth leader and the Founder of Bright Girls Movement, a community-based initiative working to end period poverty and empower girls through education, advocacy, and mentorship. Based in Mbare, Harare, she has trained over 100 women and girls in making reusable sanitary pads as a sustainable solution to menstrual poverty and continues to lead community dialogues through the My Period, Period Talk Show. Nyasha is committed to breaking stigma around menstrual health, mental wellbeing, and youth development. Her work focuses on creating safe spaces, building confidence in young women, and turning lived experiences into leadership. She believes that empowering one girl can transform an entire community.

The Uplift Leadership Program has been a defining chapter in my student journey. Beyond the certificate I proudly hold, the true impact lies in the transformation, it sparked the confidence I now carry, the courage to step outside my comfort zone, and the joy of celebrating even the smallest victories. Each session left a lasting mark on my personal growth, shaping the way I approach challenges and opportunities with resilience and purpose.
