Still greening the environment and in support of global initiatives to curb the effects of climate and global warming, our young Reds from Midlands State University, Gweru campus last weekend planted trees with the support from the institution’s Students Development Office, Central Services Department and the Gweru District Forestry Commission. They received great insights from members of the Forestry Commission who shared on why it is important to plant trees and demonstrated to the students how to plant and maintain them.

A conservation agriculture training is currently underway at the Foundation for Farming Centre, bringing together lead farmers from Chipinge under the Southern Africa Compounded Crisis (SACC) project, agricultural extension officers from Zimbabwe and Zambia, and staff from the Zim Red Cross Society and Zambia Red Cross Society HQ . .
With the 2026/27 season expected to be influenced by a strong El Niño, bringing a likelihood of below-normal rainfall, the training will strengthen the farmers' practical skills to adapt to climate shocks and sustain food production .
Drawing on the government’s Pfumvudza/Intwasa model, the masterclass is equipping participants with conservation agriculture approaches that can help communities prepare for a challenging season and build greater resilience.

The call just got louder, we must not forget the disappeared, and we must not forget the families waiting for them.
This pledge was made during the belated commemorations of the International Day of the Disappeared, hosted by the Zim Red Cross Society , which brought together representatives from various embassies, Government ministries, the Zimbabwe Republic Police, partners and organisations working to address the issue of missing persons.
It was a renewed call for collective action to raise awareness in tracing the missing and reconnecting families..
Every missing person has a story. Every family deserves answers.
And the pledge, We will remember ! We will raise our voices! We will keep searching!
