And the mission continues...
As the post distribution mission ( including capturing success stories, best innovations and beneficiary experiences) of emergency food assistance and essential household items gains momentum in Mwenezi, the National Society takes the opportunity to extend its gratitude to partner British Red Cross , for supporting the Climate Resilient Communities and Livelihoods (CIRCLe) project which is helping communities move past their pain of losing homes, now reduced to piles of mud, towards recovery and resilience.

A rubble of bricks and mud is all that remains of what was once a family's home.
In Chiredzi and Beitbridge, heavy rains washed away homes, destroying livelihoods, and leaving families with little more than the memories of the lives they once knew.
For many families, the floods did not just destroy structures—they swept away years of hard work, treasured belongings, and a sense of security. Mothers, fathers, and children are now faced with the daunting challenge of rebuilding their lives from the ground up.
Yet amid the devastation, hope is beginning to emerge.
Through the Disaster Response Emergency Fund (DREF) operation, we continue to stand alongside affected communities, providing critical humanitarian assistance and helping families take the first steps toward recovery. From emergency relief support to recovery interventions, the project seeks to restore dignity, strengthen resilience, and help communities rebuild safer and stronger

A few months after the devastating heavy rains that destroyed homes in Mwenezi, we went back to the communities to hear directly from the families who received food and non-food assistance.
The post-distribution monitoring exercise gave beneficiaries an opportunity to share their experiences, provide feedback, and tell us whether the assistance met their most urgent needs.
Beyond delivering aid, listening to communities remains at the heart of our work. Their voices help us improve our response and ensure that support reaches people in a way that restores dignity and hope.

We are excited as we welcome our new young members from the Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti ( ZEGU) and Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE). They now embark on an exciting journey of serving humanity and learning new skills which will prepare them for future lead roles in humanitarian work. To the other youths we dare you to also join us and be part of this great mission.

There were tears, smiles, and heartfelt expressions of gratitude yesterday in Boli, Chikombedzi, as survivors of the devastating floods that ravaged communities received much-needed relief support.

The families have lived with the painful memories of homes destroyed, belongings washed away, and livelihoods disrupted by the floods. Yesterday's distribution was more than just the handing over of items—it was a reminder that they have not been forgotten.

Through the DisasterResponseEmergency Fund (DREF) Floods Project, they received essential Non-Food Items (NFIs), including tarpaulins, buckets, blankets, and dignity kits.

A blanket means warmth on cold nights, a tarpaulin means shelter, and a dignity kit means restoring confidence and hope for women. What may seem like simple items carry profound meaning for families striving to recover from loss.

The project is supporting 500 flood-affected households in Chiredzi and Beitbridge, bringing relief and hope.

All smiles as community members in some wards of Chipinge district proudly show off part of their harvest after receiving drought-tolerant sorghum and cowpea seeds through the Southern African Compounded Crisis (SACC) project, supported by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
The harvest is a testament to the impact of the initiative which is helping strengthen the resilience and food security of vulnerable households affected by disasters and crises.
Together, we are supporting communities to build a more secure and sustainable future.

Good news for residents in Glen View and Budiriro! Installation of inline chlorinators at community water points has now been completed. This is part of our quest for safe water and keeping diseases like cholera at bay.
We have also replenished chlorine tablets at additional water points in Hopley and Southlea Park.
To help keep the systems running effectively, community members have also been trained on how to replace the chlorine tablets and monitor treatment levels to ensure a continued supply of safe drinking water.

Spreading love where it is needed most, our Great Zimbabwe University Youth Club visited Masvingo Provincial General Hospital and spent the day with babies who were abandoned at birth, bringing warmth, care, and smiles to their little hearts.
The team also donated food and other non-food items (NFIs) as a gesture of love and support.
This is a beautiful reminder that humanity grows through kindness, compassion, and service to others.
