Green Zimbabwe recently participated in a policy discussion on solid waste management in Zimbabwe, hosted by the Public Policy and Research Institute of Zimbabwe. The discussion highlighted the need for inclusive and sustainable waste management systems in our urban areas.
We were pleased to contribute to the conversation, sharing our insights on the challenges and opportunities in waste management. Key takeaways included the importance of formalizing the informal waste picker sector, improving waste segregation and pricing systems, and leveraging the potential of Africa's waste circular economy (worth $1.8 billion USD!).
