SUPER EAGLES FOOTBALL CLUB EMERGES AS THE 2025 AKASHINGA WEST TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS
The Super Eagles football club of Luunga Village are the champions of the 2025 edition of the Akashinga West soccer tournament. The tournament started yesterday on September 5, 2025 at Luunga business centre in Binga, and was concluded today. The 10 teams from Luunga- Tyunga ward battled for victory. After a two day-long struggle, Super Eagles football club won 9- 8 on penalties against Shumba Stars of Sinamusanga which garnered a second position. Bream rangers came third whereas Red rangers trailed behind on fourth position. Shiga-Shinga made fort on the fifth position as Green Corner struggled to gain the top five squad and landed on position six, followed by Green valley on the 7th position. The bottom line was taken by Blue showers on position eight after defeating Bee Warriors who took the 9th position. Unfortunately, with all energy invested DRC landed on position 10.
Super eagles was awarded with US$75 and a trophy for winning. Shumba stars went away with US$60 whereas Bream rangers got US$50. Red rangers got US$40 whilst the rest of the participating teams were awarded US$25 each.
The tournament drew teams from different areas in the ward and provided entertainment to the local community. The tournament was mainly male soccer based as the majority of women teams failed to affiliate and did not participate, citing lack of finances.
