The Centre for Combating Human Trafficking (CCHT) Bindura University of Science Education was honored to welcome the Italian Ambassador to Zimbabwe to our stand at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF).

This visit comes at a pivotal time, as Italy currently holds the chairmanship of the UN Human Rights Council, with a strategic campaign specifically focused on Combating Human Trafficking. The alignment between our research-driven mission and Italy’s global human rights priorities sparked an incredibly productive and inspiring dialogue.

The Ambassador expressed great appreciation for the work being done at CCHT and was keen to explore how academic research can inform policy and grassroots interventions.

Looking Ahead: Partnership for July 2026 🤝
We are thrilled to announce that this visit has laid the groundwork for a strategic partnership as we begin planning for the World Day Against Human Trafficking this July. We are honored to have the Ambassador’s interest and support as we take our commemorations to the Matabeleland region, specifically in Manama.

Working together, we aim to:
🔹 Raise awareness in border and vulnerable communities.
🔹 Align local efforts with international human rights standards.
🔹 Strengthen the voice of survivors in the Matabeleland South region.

A heartfelt thank you to the Italian Embassy for recognizing our efforts. We look forward to a collaboration that bridges the gap between global policy and community-level impact.

Yesterday we had the honor of joining the Power FM Zimbabwe breakfast show at ZBC Pockets Hills to tackle a heavy but necessary conversation. As we mark International Human Trafficking Awareness Month, our mission was clear; to turn "it doesn't happen here" into "how can we stop it?"

The energy in the studio was electric, but it was the response from the listeners that truly moved us. To hear the airwaves flood with positive feedback and deep appreciation for the Centre for Combating Human Trafficking at Bindura University of Science Education was a powerful reminder that people are hungry for change and protection.

Human trafficking thrives in the shadows. By taking this conversation to the national airwaves, we are shining a light on the tactics used by traffickers and empowering our communities with the knowledge to fight back.

At , we are not just researching this crisis; we are actively working to dismantle it. Yesterday’s interactive session proved that when academia, media, and the public unite, we create a formidable force against modern-day slavery.

Thanks to the Power FM team for the platform, and to every listener who called in, texted, and stood in solidarity with us. The fight continues.
