The Zimbabwe Institute is honoured to participate in the 2nd Youth Public Finance Indaba, convened by the Youth Accountability Initiative (YAI) under the theme: "Reclaim • Rethink • Reimagine: Zimbabwe's Resources and Economic Sovereignty Futures."
Representing the Zimbabwe Institute, Solomon Bobosibunu reaffirmed ZI’s commitment to promoting meaningful youth participation in leadership, governance, public finance, and accountability. He underscored that youth participation is not a favour extended to young people, but a democratic imperative and a developmental necessity.
Drawing on the Zimbabwe Institute's experience through initiatives such as the Annual Youth Model Parliament, Youth Inclusive Budget Conference, and the capacitation of Youth Policy Trackers, Solomon highlighted the importance of creating platforms that enable young people to influence public policy and decision-making. He also encouraged participants to use the Indaba as an opportunity to ask difficult questions, share innovative ideas, build partnerships, and champion accountable governance.
We commend the Youth Accountability Initiative and its partners for convening this important platform and for continuously creating spaces where young people can engage meaningfully on issues of public finance, resource governance, and economic sovereignty.
