From Community Engagement Meetings To Building Community Systems On Social Protection

In partnership with ActionAid Zambia and Global Platform Zambia, Mind Shapers Organisation has successfully completed Advanced Trainer of Trainers meetings in Nalolo and Sesheke Districts. This builds on our 2025 SPAII project work alongside Zambia Police Victim Support Unit and Social Welfare, where we brought Social Protection and GBV conversations directly to communities. This year's training united Youth Friendly Spaces, Social Welfare and CWACs, NGO partners including CAMFED and JCTR, PTA representatives, and community members.

A cohort of 60 community protection trainers per district, with 70% being young women and youth, now actively strengthening case reporting and safer referrals. Looking ahead, protection has been mainstreamed into climate resilience planning, ensuring young women can safely participate in agroecology and green economy activities. Strong systems start with community ownership.

SPAII 2025 IMPACT STORY - BLESSING BUYOTI
Nalolo District is among the districts in Western Province Zambia that was affected by the major drought in 2023/2024 Farming Season for the district whose population highly depends on Farming this became a major setback leaving women and youths with a little or nothing to do. For few who were surviving on small scale businesses also had little knowledge on how to scale or navigate the market place.

Mind Shapers Zambia with its partners and conducted an Expert led Enterpreneurship Training targeting youths within Nalolo District Zambia. This training brought together youths to learn, interract and share ideas on Enterpreneurship.
However, For Blessing Buyoti it went beyond interraction, idea sharing and learning. He utilised the knowledge gained from Experts and fellow young people to scale his gardening business from a minimum of 7 beds to more then 20 beds of fresh vegetables supplying his communities daily.

Mind Shapers was last week was in Nalolo District to Support The Training of Civic leaders in Agro ecology Farming Practices Convened by ActionAid Zambia under the Transformative Impact Fund Project Being implemented both in Nalolo and Sesheke to strengthen and create Resilience in local Farmers in the area through sustainable agriculture practices!
