My dear UPND family,

I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming congratulatory and encouraging messages I have received from our national leadership, provincial team, constituency officials, and, most importantly, our dedicated grassroots structures here in Livingstone.

This journey we have embarked on, is not about an individual, it is about all of us. It is about unity of purpose, working together as one strong family, and ensuring that every voice within our party is heard and respected.

As we move forward and once installed Member of Parliament, I will remain fully committed to fostering inclusivity in addressing the challenges facing our beloved Livingstone.

Leadership, especially the office of Member of Parliament, is a responsibility to serve the people with integrity, humility, fairness and inclusiveness. It calls for us to stand together, support one another, and prioritize the well-being of every UPND member. It strongly calls for an open door policy and visibility towards all members and stakeholders, that’s why we pin it down as a public office.

In this regard, I am deeply committed to strengthening and supporting the Livingstone UPND Welfare Fund so that no member feels left behind in times of need.

Let us remain united, focused, and resolute. Together, we will build a stronger, more inclusive, and prosperous Livingstone Central. Together, we will restore hope, dignity, and opportunity for our all people.

I thank you for your encouragement, and your belief in this shared vision.

Livingstone First. Livingstone Strong. Livingstone Restored.

Yours faithfully,
Ferdinand Simaanya
Aspiring Member of Parliament- Livingstone Central Constituency.

FERDINAND SIMAANYA COMMENDS MOSI DAY OF THUNDER, CALLS FOR ENHANCED SAFETY AND ECONOMIC ALIGNMENT

DEVELOPMENTAL SEGMENT

Livingstone, Zambia UPND Aspiring Member of Parliament for Livingstone Central Constituency, Mr. Ferdinand Simaanya, has commended Zambia Breweries for successfully hosting another vibrant edition of the Mosi Day of Thunder, describing the event as a catalyst for cultural pride, tourism growth, and community empowerment.

Speaking on behalf of the people of Livingstone and diaspora, Mr Simaanya highlighted the festival’s continued contribution to strengthening local cultural identity, attracting both domestic and international visitors, and creating a platform for local creative talent.

He expressed particular pride in the strong representation of Livingstone-based DJs and artists featured in this year’s lineup, noting that their presence on the main stage reflects the city’s growing influence in Zambia’s entertainment landscape and stands as a testament to its creative excellence.

Simaanya further used the platform to advocate for aligning the festival with the national development agenda under President Hakainde Hichilema, particularly the vision of promoting a 24-hour economy. He proposed extending the event’s closing time from 01:00 hours to 04:30 hours, arguing that such an adjustment would enhance public safety by allowing attendees to return home in daylight hours.

“This adjustment would help mitigate the dangers of drunk driving during dark hours, preserve lives, and enhance the overall safety of participants,” he stated.

He emphasized the need for responsible celebration, adding that, “the thunder of music must be matched by the thunder of responsibility, unity, and care for our people.”

The Mosi Day of Thunder continues to stand as one of Zambia’s premier cultural festivals, drawing thousands of revelers annually.

Simaanya’s remarks underscore the importance of balancing entertainment with safety, while leveraging such events to advance economic activity and community well-being.

My fellow residents of Livingstone, colleagues, members of the diaspora, and supporters of UPND,

After 21 years of dedicated service at Supergroup Dealerships, in Johannesburg, South Africa, I humbly take a step to return home to Livingstone, the place that shaped me, from Livingstone General Hospital to my years at Livingstone Primary, Linda Secondary, and Hillcrest Technical School.

I come back not with promises of grandeur, but with a sincere desire to serve. I am offering myself as a candidate for Member of Parliament for Livingstone Central, guided by humility, hard work, and a deep respect for our community.

I understand the daily challenges our people face, limited job and business opportunities, concerns around safety, struggling infrastructure, and the need for meaningful support for our youth and women.

My goal is to work alongside you to attract investment, create sustainable jobs, improve roads and drainage, strengthen community safety, and expand opportunities for all.

This journey is not about me, it is about us. Together, with unity and determination, we can build a safer, more inclusive, and prosperous Livingstone.

I ask for your trust, your guidance, and your support as we walk this path together.

With serenity and courage,

Yours truly

Ferdinand Simaanya.
