On 28th August, 2026, Environment Africa Zambia Kalumbila Youth network participated in a radio program focusing on Children's rights and Youth participation in decision making platforms held at Kalumbila Community radio. The session sparked a lot of interest among young people and the elderly especially on children's rights. We continue to raise awareness and interact with the community on issues affecting children, young people, women and the community at large.

On 24th and 25th August, Environment Africa Zambia proudly participated in the annual Terre des Hommes Zim-Zam partners meeting. This is an important platform for exchanging best practices and lessons learned among Terre des Hommes partners in Zimbabwe and Zambia.

We are honored to have received the Best Presentation Award for our work on Young Environmental Voices, recognizing the significant impact of empowering young people to lead in environmental advocacy.
Beyond recognition, the meeting also strengthened our collective capacity through sessions on Disability inclusion, Prevention of Sexual Abuse and Harassment and Safeguarding in organisations.
Zim-Zam partners meeting

This week, a delegation of 10 staff members, community and Youth representatives from Kabwe, Kabwela in Solwezi and Mapatizya in Zimba are participating in the Zambia Alternative Mining Indaba at Mkango Golfview Hotel in Lusaka. The 3 day event is being held under the theme, "From Policy to Practice: Celebrating Value and Community Resilience in Zambia’s Mining Sector”. The ZAMI 2026 was graced by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Mines Dr Kabeta and H.E. Ms. Karolina, The Ambassador of the EU Delegation to Zambia and COMESA.
As per tradition, Environment Africa facilitated the participation of activists living in communities affected by mining to come and tell their stories and engage duty bearers and the private sector.

Earlier today, Solwezi Youth Network (SYN), under Environment Africa, led a successful clean up at Zambia Market, Solwezi District, North Western Province. The activity brought together the Solwezi Municipal Council, SYN, and other key stakeholders to ensure marketeers can trade in a safe, healthy and welcoming environment.

During the clean-up, youths took the opportunity to sensitize marketeers and traders on proper waste management practices and workplace safety. These conversations focused on practical steps to keep their stalls and surroundings clean which measures that protect both the environment and children’s rights in the community.

Solwezi Youth Network remains committed to creating positive, lasting impact in our different communities, building safer public spaces, promoting environmental stewardship and empowering young people to lead change.

A New report about Anglo American's Accountability Deficit'.
The report has Just been launched at the Alternative Mining Indaba in Cape Town, South Africa with Ziyanda from Justice For Miners, Namo Chuma from Environment Africa Zambia, Reginald from Tlou Mogale Foundation, Sabelo from MACUA & WAMUA and Rachel and Tricia from ACTSA.

The Country Director of Environment Africa Mr Namo Chuma made a passionate presentation of the Kabwe Lead pollution story.

Youth participation in dialogue platforms is key to sustainable development. Today, Elizabeth Ngoma, a member of the Solwezi Youth Network, participated in a radio program on waste management in Solwezi. Elizabeth shared that poor waste management is a major driver of climate change, as open dumping and burning release harmful greenhouse gases that damage the environment. She highlighted that young people play a critical role in promoting recycling, leading community clean-ups, and raising awareness especially during Global Action Month, to help build a more resilient and sustainable future.
