Caritas Solwezi recently conducted community outreach activities in selected areas of Kimakolwe, Muzabula, and Mulemba as part of its ongoing commitment to improving the well-being of vulnerable communities.
The outreach provided an opportunity to engage with community members, assess local needs, and strengthen partnerships aimed at promoting sustainable development and human dignity. Through these engagements, Caritas Solwezi continues to walk alongside communities, supporting initiatives that contribute to improved livelihoods, access to essential services, and enhanced resilience.
We remain grateful to Cross Catholic Outreach for their continued partnership and support in helping us bring hope, dignity, and lasting positive change to the communities we serve.

We recently held our Performance Review for the Catholic Relief Services-supported Emergency Mother-Baby Resource Assistance for Combatting HIV Exposure (EMBRACE) Project. The review meeting brought together Ministry of Health teams and Implementing Partners committed to strengthening the Prevention of Mother-To-Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT) services and improving maternal and child health outcomes.

During the review, we assessed performance against key indicators across supported facilities while reflecting on overall trends and site-level progress. We also celebrated achievements and shared best practices that are driving success across the PMTCT program.

In addition, we identified critical gaps and bottlenecks affecting service delivery, conducted root cause analysis to better understand these challenges, and developed practical Performance Improvement Plans with clear actions and timelines to address them.

Most importantly, the meeting strengthened collaboration and alignment among Implementing Partners, ensuring we move forward with a shared vision and coordinated approach.

Caritas Solwezi expresses deep sorrow and outrage at the tragic killing of Ms. Enelesi Hellen Kamutumbe, a 46-year-old businesswoman from Chingola, who lost her life to mob justice in Kisasa, Kalumbila District.

Mob justice is not justice - it is unlawful, inhumane and a violation of human dignity.

We call on law enforcement to act swiftly, community leaders to promote peace and empathy, and the public to reject violence in all its forms.

Let us stand together to uphold the sanctity of life.

May her soul rest in peace.

Caritas Solwezi recently conducted Consultative Meetings with traditional leaders in Kalumbila, Mushindamo and Mwinilunga as part of the inception phase of the โ€œImproving Land Rights for Vulnerable Rural Population Groups in North-Western Province of Zambiaโ€ project.

Supported by the German Catholic Central Agency for Global Development (KZE) and Misereor, the project aims to promote equitable access to and ownership of land for vulnerable rural population groups across the three districts.

The engagements were conducted to formally introduce the project, secure local endorsement and identify contextual considerations that may influence its implementation. During these meetings, the project team met with His Royal Highness Chief Chibwika of Mwinilunga District, His Royal Highness Senior Chief Musele, Musokantanda IV of Kalumbila District and His Royal Highness Senior Chief Mujimanzovu of Mushindamo District.

The traditional leaders warmly welcomed the initiative and expressed their support for efforts aimed at strengthening land rights in their respective chiefdoms.
