Supporting Our Children, One Household at a Time

At Namumu Orphanage Centre, we believe that true care starts in the environment our children call home. This past weekend, our CEO accompanied by a member of our Board, spent valuable time conducting our regular quarterly visits to the households we support.

It is always about more than just delivering supplies. During our visits, we:

* Checked in on the children’s academic performance at school.
* Spent meaningful time encouraging parents and guardians on the importance of raising the children to know God and ensuring they attend church regularly.
* Distributed essential food staples, cleaning supplies, clothes, shoes, and school materials to relieve household pressures.

We are incredibly grateful to our partner, The Outreach Foundation, for standing with us to make these critical check-ins possible. Together, we are nurturing these children academically, physically, and spiritually.

A DREAM REALIZED: OUR NEW MCH WING IS OFFICIALLY OPEN.

Today, June 1st, 2026, marks a momentous milestone as our newly maintained Maternal and Child Health (MCH) wing is officially open and fully operational.

This achievement is a beautiful testament to global partnership and community determination:

The Equipment: Last year, through the incredible generosity of Pastor Doug, Woodside Church (USA), and The Outreach Foundation, we acquired essential maternity equipment including a manual delivery bed, delivery sets, weighing scales, sterilizers, and newborn care tools.

The Infrastructure: Because our existing clinic lacked adequate space and privacy for expectant mothers, we put together concerted efforts to completely renovate and maintain an existing building on our premises to dedicate it entirely to MCH services.

The Finishing Touches: To make the building functional, Fibrecom Limited stepped in through their "Give to Gain" initiative, donating the vital clinical bed linens, supplies, and beautifully installed branded curtains that now provide complete privacy in our waiting bay, consultation rooms, and delivery areas.

As seen in our photos the wing is officially in use today. Thank you to all our partners for ensuring over 2,000 residents now have access to safe, private, and dignified maternal healthcare. To God be the glory.

The Journey of Delight Samende.

In 2016, Delight Samende arrived at the Namumu Orphanage Centre from Mpango Village in the Siavonga District. At that time, she was in Grade 4, beginning a journey that would see her transform through the power of education and community support.

Between 2016 and 2024, every step of her schooling was made possible through the dedicated partnership between Namumu and The Outreach Foundation, an ally that has been with the institution since its inception in 2000. Their support ensured that Delight could focus on her studies at Mubuyu Christian Academy, where she successfully completed her Grade 12 in 2024.

Today, that foundation of support has led her to Kapasa Makasa University. Sponsored by the Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB), she is now pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries and Aquaculture.

Seeing Delight rise from a Grade 4 pupil in Mpango Village to a scholar at Kapasa Makasa University highlights the profound impact of Namumu’s long-term commitment to every child's future.

Supporting Our Children, One Household at a Time 🏠💙

At Namumu Orphanage Centre, we now believe that supporting a child means supporting the environment they call home. Last weekend, our Board Chairperson Mrs. Edith Mutelo, Board Treasurer Mrs. Loveness Musialike, and CEO Mr. Matomola Siakwale spent time visiting the families and households we support.

It wasn't just about the delivery of essential items like mealie meal, cooking oil, school shoes and bags; it was about the smiles, the conversations, and the shared hope for the future. Since we introduced these quarterly visits last year, we have seen a remarkable difference in the well-being of our orphans and vulnerable children.

We are so grateful to our partner, The Outreach Foundation, for making this program possible. Together, we are planning to reach even more households this year.

Thank you so much to fibrecom for the kind gesture 🙌

🎄✨ Christmas Joy at Namumu Orphanage Centre ✨🎄

On Christmas Day, we had the pleasure of celebrating a wonderful Christmas lunch filled with joy, laughter, and community spirit. A heartfelt thank you to our esteemed Member of Parliament, Hon. Darius Mulunda, for sponsoring this special event, as well as for generously donating assorted clothes and presenting a beautiful cake for our children. Your kindness brought so many smiles to our faces.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Outreach Foundation for providing the foodstuffs and essential items, and to all our dedicated board members, staff, and volunteers for making this occasion truly memorable.

Our beloved children shone brightly as we enjoyed a delicious meal, engaged in entertaining activities, and celebrated the true meaning of Christmas together.

Additionally, we had the joy of presenting foodstuffs and other essential supplies to support our Household Support Program, ensuring that our children and their families feel the love and care of our community during this festive season.

Thank you all for your continued support and for being a cherished part of the Namumu family. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a joyful New Year filled with love and hope.

Compliments of the season to you all.
