FAZ LUAPULA PROVINCE WARNS AGAINST CHEATING DURING TRANSFER WINDOW

Press Statement
(For Immediate Release)
Football Association of Zambia, (FAZ) Luapula Province
MANSA

June 9, 2026.

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Luapula Province has warned players and Registrars against cheating during the ongoing Player Registration and Transfer Window for the transition football season.

Association Chairperson Mujala Mweemba warns that FAZ in the province will not tolerant player double registration cases next season adding that stiffer punishments will be meted out on the guilty teams and the players.

Mweemba added that players who will be discovered to have fraudulently changed or obtained new National Registration Cards (NRCs) and registered at multiple clubs under different particulars will even be reported to the Police for the crime.

“There is a big problem with registration…this transition period, some people will cry if they do bad things during registrations (like) changing the names of the people, changing the NRCs, … one will be arrested this time, we will report them ourselves,” he warned.

Mweemba said the FAZ Player Status Committee in the Province last season handled a number of cases involving player double registrations in the football database under multiple NRCs, leading to the culprit teams and players penalized and fined.

The chairperson has also expressed concerns over a number of walkover games recorded across the leagues in the province last season.

Mweemba regretted that some teams who pledged commitment towards fulfilling the fixtures at the time of registrations caused walkovers during the season, a situation he said has potential to affect the competitiveness of the league.

“Had we known, some of these teams would have not been registered with us but this has already happened in the last season and we are looking at the way forward now,” he regretted.

Mweemba said the FAZ Executive will soon meet to deliberate on the measures to be introduced to prevent the walkovers and stiffer punitive actions to be taken if they happen next season.
