📢 An Open Call for Inclusive Development & Empowerment
To our Government, Stakeholders, and Community:
It is time to rewrite the narrative around disability. For too long, systemic barriers and misconceptions have excluded persons with disabilities from the mainstream. We are here to challenge that.
We are witnessing a shift. Deaf individuals and persons with disabilities are not just participants in our society, they are drivers of economic productivity. From skilled craftsmanship, creating high-quality sofas, chairs, doors, and beds, to leadership in diverse professional fields, their potential is limitless.
Why Inclusion Matters:
Global research shows that when we remove barriers, society thrives:
Economic Growth:
Inclusive workplaces and vocational training boost GDP and foster independence.
Human Rights:
Accessibility, including sign language interpretation, is a fundamental right, not a favor.
Resilience:
An inclusive community is a stronger, more united community.
Our Call to Action:
We urge the Government and all stakeholders to move beyond talk and take action:
1. Invest in Skills: Fund vocational training that accommodates the unique communication needs of deaf individuals and all persons with disabilities.
2. Ensure Market Access: Prioritize procurement policies that support businesses owned by persons with disabilities.
3. Mandate Accessibility: Integrate sign language and universal design into all public services and workplaces.
We are not asking for charity; we are asking for a level playing field. Let’s commit to a future where opportunity is defined by talent and ambition, not by societal barriers.
