Botswana 🇧🇼 and Lesotho 🇱🇸 are considering a new travel arrangement that would allow citizens of both countries to cross the border using only national identity cards, eliminating the need for passports and making travel more convenient.

The move follows Botswana’s existing agreements with Namibia and Zimbabwe and reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen regional integration in Southern Africa.

In a further show of cooperation, Botswana has also pledged to donate 100,000 doses of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccine to Lesotho to help combat livestock outbreaks and improve animal health.

This culture is a very rich and powerful heritage. When the performers take part in the ceremonies, it is as if they are living in another world, different from ordinary people. However, in their spiritual world, they have many of the same things that exist in everyday life.

They can represent cows, tortoises, crocodiles, motorbikes, cars, and many other figures through their traditional performances. These characters come out to dance and entertain during cultural ceremonies, especially at night. It is like they have created their own world within the culture, where everything found in normal life can also be represented.

This tradition is known as Gule Wamkulu in parts of Southern Africa. It is one of the most respected and powerful cultural traditions. The culture is rich in symbolism, history, and secret knowledge that is only understood by initiated members. Some of the performances can be frightening because of the masks, costumes, and spiritual beliefs connected to them.

For many generations, Gule Wamkulu has remained an important part of the cultural heritage of the people who practice it, preserving their history, traditions, and identity.
