🌸 International Women’s Day 2026
Message Delivered by
Acting Executive Director – Western Youth Empowerment Alliance (WYEA)
Wesley Hanyongola
Today we proudly join the world in celebrating International Women’s Day 2026 under the theme:
“Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls.”
This day is more than a celebration — it is a reminder of the strength, resilience, and leadership of women and girls who continue to shape our communities, our nation, and our future.
Across Zambia, women are at the heart of development. They are farmers feeding the nation, entrepreneurs building businesses, teachers inspiring young minds, and leaders transforming communities. Their contributions are not only valuable — they are essential to sustainable development.
At the Western Youth Empowerment Alliance (WYEA), we remain committed to empowering women and girls through our key thematic areas, including:
• Youth and Women’s Leadership Development
• Economic Empowerment and Entrepreneurship
• Education and Skills Development
• Community Development and Social Justice
We believe that empowering women and girls is one of the most powerful investments we can make for the future of Zambia. When women have equal opportunities to learn, lead, and succeed, families prosper, communities grow stronger, and nations thrive.
As the inspiring African peace activist Leymah Gbowee once said:
“You can never leave footprints that last if you are always walking on tiptoe.”
Today, women across Africa are walking boldly — leading change, breaking barriers, and shaping a more just and equal society.
This International Women’s Day, we call on leaders, communities, men, and youth to stand together in promoting gender equality, protecting the rights of women and girls, and creating opportunities that allow every woman to reach her full potential.
Together, let us stand for Rights.
Let us demand Justice.
And let us take Action.
✨ Happy International Women’s Day 2026!
