MICKSON NYONI'S LONE GOAL HELPED MSANDILE UNITED TO EDGE CHITUNDA FC IN A WEEK-18 OF THE EASTERN PROVINCE FAZ DIVISION THREE LEAGUE.
Yesterday's 1-0 victory pushed the Msandile united FC to third on the 2024/2025 Eastern Province FAZ division three League log standings with 29 points, 14 points below first placed side Silver Celtics and 11 points below second placed side Chiefs united FC.
The MEEP Boys showed character, enthusiasm & hunger for goals in the early minutes of the first stanza -their due delligence paid off as they were rewarded with a penalty.
No No-no sense defender Ezra Banda stepped up & was denied an opener by the the Chitunda FC goalkeeper.
The match would have ended in a stalemate if it wasn't for Mickson Nyoni first half strike.
Mickson Nyoni had all the ample time to score from close range, only to waste the opportunity by giving it away instead of shooting at goal.
The Coach Gana led technical bench brought-in Chidson who made an instant impact, Making good use of the through-ball from Robert Banda alias 'Kalulu' and delivered it in the box for a well calculated finish from Mickson Nyoni who capitalized from a failed clearance by the Chitunda FC goalkeeper.
Mickson Nyoni has now scored three goals in the last three games - A brace against Mshawa Kwaaza-Kuutuka & a goal against Chitunda FC in a match played yesterday at Chisengu school ground, making him an in-form striker fir the MEEP boys.
The one nil victory was preceded by a contest involving Msandile united under-17 and Chitunda FC under-17 which ended 1-1.
Msandile economic empowerment project (MEEP) coordinator Abraham Banda who was on board following the enthralling contest hailed the players and the technical for the one nil victory.
Band called for concerted team work as a catalyst to realize the MEEP set goals.
Others on board were Area ward councillor Matthews Banda, MEEP board & chief Jumbe induna who's a staunch follower of the MEEP Boys.
On Saturday this week, the team will be hoping to build from a 1 nil Victory when they visit Chicco Stars in a week-19 League match.
