Today, the Zambia Youth Delivery Forum (ZYDF) proudly partnered with Mulimi and other stakeholders in commemorating the International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026 through the Mulimi Women’s Football Tournament held at Shamakondo Grounds in Chongwe.

This initiative is more than just sport. It is a celebration of the resilience, hard work and contribution of women in agriculture who continue to feed families, drive local economies and contribute meaningfully towards Zambia’s national development.

As ZYDF, we celebrate every woman making a difference across the agricultural value chain, from small scale farmers to commercial producers. Women remain at the heart of food security, community development and economic transformation, and their contribution deserves recognition, investment and support.

We also commend the Government of the Republic of Zambia for the progressive policies and programs aimed at uplifting women in agriculture. Initiatives such as increased access to farming inputs through FISP reforms, empowerment funds for women and youth, promotion of cooperatives, support for irrigation and mechanisation, and financial inclusion programs are creating opportunities for more women to actively participate and grow within the agricultural sector. These interventions continue to strengthen women’s economic participation and build a more inclusive agricultural economy.

We further appreciate Mulimi for the outstanding work being done in Chongwe to build capacity, empower and uplift women in agriculture through practical community driven initiatives. Their commitment to creating platforms that promote women’s participation, leadership and empowerment is commendable and impactful.

Together, we continue to champion a Zambia where women in agriculture are empowered, supported and recognised as key drivers of sustainable development.

The Zambia Youth Delivery Forum was pleased to facilitate the participation of selected winners and nominees of the inaugural Zambia Youth Excellence Awards, along side partners NGOs working with the Forum at the EXCEL Founders & Business Leaders class organized by Leap Network.

Held from 5th to 8th May 2026 at Numetro Arcades, brought together entrepreneurs, founders, professionals and business leaders for impactful sessions focused on leadership, entrepreneurship, innovation and personal development. The programme featured notable speakers including Oscar Chavula, Abraham Kabaso, Charity Lumpa, Frank Banda and Sr Counsellor Carol Musiitwa.

The Participation of delegates was made possible as a courtesy from ZYDF in line with our broader objective of creating meaningful opportunities that expose young people and community organizations to high impact learning, mentorship and capacity building platforms.

ZYDF remains deliberate in building strategic collaborations with institutions, private sector players and development partners to ensure young people are equipped with relevant skills, knowledge and tools necessary to thrive in a rapidly evolving world. We believe investing in youth capacity is essential to advancing personal growth, strengthening communities and driving sustainable national development.

Zambia has officially completed its 38-month Extended Credit Facility programme with the International Monetary Fund, a major step in the country’s debt recovery journey.

- 6/6 programme reviews passed
- US$1.7 billion disbursed
- Final US$190 million unlocked

This isn’t just about numbers, it’s about rebuilding trust, restoring stability, and setting a stronger foundation for economic growth.

Zambia now stands as the first Common Framework country to successfully complete a full IMF-supported restructuring cycle. That’s history in the making.

So what does this mean for you?
It signals progress toward a more stable economy, but the real impact comes from how we manage debt going forward, both as a nation and as individuals.
