There are moments when life quietly reminds you of who you are and what you carry within you.

For the longest time, I have loved moderating and hosting events. It has always felt natural to me, but I do not think I am fully exploring this side of myself. I first truly realized this passion when I was privileged to host a side event for the Movement during International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa(ICASA) supported by UNICEF , UNFPA , UNAIDS and other UN agencies.

Since then, I have had the opportunity to host several virtual and physical conferences, each experience stretching and shaping me in beautiful ways.

Recently, the amazing Naomi Banda, Country Coordinator for the UNITED Movement in Zambia, reached out to me and said:
“Lady Muzo, I was wondering if you can host the upcoming webinar because as I was checking the team from Zambia that has done this before, I realized you have done similar works with UNITED.”

That moment made me smile. It reminded me that even when we do not document every achievement or speak loudly about our experiences, somewhere, the work speaks for itself(I am not saying do not share, I honestly wish I started documenting some of my journey earlier)

It also reminded me how organizations like UNITED Movement continue believing in young people, continuously creating spaces and opportunities for us to grow, lead and contribute meaningfully.

So yes, I still got it in me 😊
and I am excited to be hosting the upcoming UNITED Movement Zambia Webinar on:
Partnerships and Funding for SRHR & HIV Initiatives..

This conversation will focus on resource mobilization, sustainable partnerships, and positioning initiatives for growth and impact. I am also looking forward to learning from the incredible speakers Kachusha Nkosha, Clement Chipokolo and everyone who will be joining us.

And who knows… maybe you might enjoy my hosting enough to invite me for your next event too 😄

Sometimes people are not refusing to do the right thing… they simply have never been shown how.

Today, my friend Bertha and I took the TAKE IT TO THE BIN movement along Freedom Way.
A few weeks ago, while passing through the same area speaking to the public about proper waste disposal, one excuse we kept hearing was:
“The bins are too far from where we are.”
So imagine our excitement when we recently noticed bins finally installed around Freedom Way. We thought to ourselves, great… one barrier removed!

But then something happened.

I noticed a man standing right next to one of the bins holding a plastic coffee cup, confused about which compartment he was supposed to use. I assisted him, and that small moment inspired today’s campaign.

So today, 12th May 2026, Bertha and I decided to move around the different points where the bins have been placed and engage the people around them.
We explained:
1..how the bins function,
2..why separating waste matters,
and most importantly,
3..we practiced together using simple, relatable examples based on the waste people had in their hands.

And honestly? It was beautiful.
Some people appreciated that we stopped by because they genuinely did not know how the bins worked. Others admitted they thought the bins were just for decoration... Some even feared using them because they had been told the bins were meant for “other people” and not necessarily for street vendors.

What touched me the most was realizing that many people are actually willing to do the right thing they just need guidance, information, and reassurance.

And this eexperience alone reminded me of something very important:
The community is the true driver of development.
Because if people are not informed, it becomes difficult to expect their full participation.

Today also showed me that HOW we communicate matters just as much as WHAT we communicate.

I am hally to share also some of the recommendations we received around waste management included:
1. Translating instructions on the bins into local languages
2. Having facilitators nearby to guide people on waste separation as they slowly adapt
3. Ensuring consistent garbage collection by the responsible offices.
4. Sensitizing and eduacate marketers who send street children to dump waste in undesignated areas to know the consequences of such actions..

So much learning from one simple activity.

A big thank you to Bertha for putting everything aside just to accompany me on this campaign

And to everyone else, Let’s continue doing what is right, even when nobody is watching.
Thank you so much to Lusaka Integrated Solid Waste Management Company Limited for these bins, we appreciate you..

Otherwise,
TAKE IT TO THE BIN.

"Support does not always arrive in big ways. Sometimes, it is a smile, a nod, or a stranger reminding you why you started.” 🤍

Today, while heading into town and making my usual TAKE IT TO THE BIN announcement on the bus, I noticed a young man quietly listening to me. He kept nodding his head, smiling, and looking at me in a way that almost felt like he wanted to stand up and clap for me 😅. He genuinely looked amazed.

After I finished speaking, he looked at me and said:
“I wish I met you earlier. I would have married you 😄… now I am just a nobody. I have simply turned out to be a jankie(term used to discribe youths that are usually intoxicated”

I smiled immediately and responded:
“I don’t think you are a jankie.”
Then he continued:
“But still, I don’t think I can sustain you. Right now, I can tell you I have never seen anyone like you. You are courageous, smart, and seem like a very good person.”

I honestly just kept smiling because the conversation felt so genuine and unexpected.

Then he said something that truly stayed with me:
“Your message is so good that if we had even just six people like you, the world would be better. Continue with what you are doing. I may be like this, but I have been to school too and I understand everything you said and how important it is just that life happened. I would have loved to support you.”

And that is when I told him something I hope he remembers one day:

“You already supported me. Just you nodding while I spoke was enough. You motivated me without even realizing it.”

This post may not necessarily be about waste management today. It is simply a reminder that support comes in many forms.
Not everyone will support you with money.
Some people will support you with:
encouragement,
kind words,
presence,
belief,
or simply listening.
And sometimes, that is enough to keep someone going.

So if you believe in my message :TAKE IT TO THE BIN", I ask for one simple thing: Pass it on. Speak about it. Practice it. Remind someone else.

And to UNO(the gentleman)… I hope one day you come across this post stronger, happier, and in a better place in life. Because beyond your words today, I saw a human being and not a label. 🤍

We all know Tuesday is my official campaign day 😄… but when duty calls, who am I to say no?

So yesterday, I spent my beautiful Thursday, with my smart, intelligent, briliant, shining pupils at Acacia Country School and together we joined the “We Are for Cleanliness” campaign taking place until the 3rd of May.

This activity was especially meaningful because it did not just remind the pupils about proper waste disposal it also gave them the opportunity to actively participate in cleaning their school surroundings.
And honestly? It was beautiful to watch.
The excitement, the energy, and the way the pupils fully owned the activity reminded me why I strongly believe children should be part of these conversations early. They learn fast, adopt habits quickly, and can grow into responsible citizens who understand the importance of keeping their environment clean.

So to everyone reading this, I kindly ask you to pass on the message to your friends, families, and neighbors:
Keeping our environment clean starts with one simple act… TAKE IT TO THE BIN...

Big Thanx to Mr Mwiinga who is always welcoming me and making all these activities possible!! And let me confess, this is right here is at heart, the pupils always find their way to my heart...the chats we have after the activities are always so inspiring and motivating...

Because Acacia Country School pupils are trained to be responsible.... they had to clean their surrounding.. we had to TAKE IT TO THE BIN..
