Through the support of the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts and National Arts Council of Zambia we have been able to revive the provincial Visual Arts Branches.
As part of our mandate to contribute to the development of the Visual Arts across the country, this workshop saves a foundation and starting point for growth in the sector.

Happening now, Visual Arts Council 🇿🇲 2-day Workshop/Management Meeting that has brought the Chairpersons and Provincial Secretaries from W/Province, S/Province, Copperbelt, Luapula, Muchinga, Central and Eastern at the Henry Tayali Art Gallery. Also present are the National Arts Council of Zambia Ass. Director Arts, Provincial Arts Development Officer (PADO) Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts, NAC Board Member William Miko and Finance expert and consultant Betty Wilkinson.

Eligibility
This call is open to:
• Zambian professional visual artists.
Submission Requirements
Applicants must submit:
• Artist statement (max. 300 words).
• Curriculum Vitae (CV).

Selection Criteria
• Artistic excellence and originality
• Experience in similar works
• Paid up/affiliated to Zambia National Visual Arts Council.

The commissioned artist will be responsible for:
• Developing a detailed artistic concept and design proposal.
• Producing a maquette (scaled model) for approval.
• Executing the full-scale sculpture.
• Casting the statue in durable material (preferably bronze or equivalent).
• Ensuring structural integrity and longevity.
• Supporting installation at the designated site.

Size and Scale Requirements
Artists are invited to submit proposals under the following size categories:
• Option 1: 10 metres (monumental scale)
• Option 2: 9 metres (large-scale)
• Option 3: 7.5 metres (medium monumental scale)

Artistic Guidelines
• The statue must present a dignified and recognizable likeness of Dr. Kenneth Kaunda.
• The design should reflect themes of unity, peace, leadership, and humanism.
• The artwork must be suitable for outdoor public display.
• Consideration should be given to posture, symbolism, and environmental interaction.

Eligibility
This call is open to:
• Zambian professional sculptors and visual artists.
• Artist collectives or studios with proven experience in large-scale or public art projects.

Submission Requirements
Applicants must submit:
• Concept proposal (sketches/digital renderings indicating scale).
• Artist statement (max. 300 words).
• Portfolio of previous work.
• Technical proposal (materials and casting method).
• Project timeline.
• Detailed budget (clearly aligned to the 3 size options).
• Curriculum Vitae (CV).

Selection Criteria
• Artistic excellence and originality
• Relevance to KK’s legacy
• Technical feasibility and durability
• Experience in similar works
• Cost-effectiveness relative to scale.
• Paid up/affiliated to Zambia National Visual Arts Council.
