As keep a boy child safe organisation, We express deep concern over a recent case in which an elderly woman was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment for the sexual abuse of a male child.

As an organisation committed to the protection and empowerment of the boy child, we believe that justice must be fair, consistent and equal for all children regardless of gender.

Sexual abuse is a serious violation of a childโ€™s rights, dignity and wellbeing. It should never be minimized or treated differently based on whether the victim is a boy or a girl. Every child deserves equal protection under the law.

While we acknowledge the progress made in strengthening laws against sexual offences in Zambia, including stricter measures against offenders, this case raises important questions about balance, consistency and fairness in sentencing.

We urge stakeholders, justice institutions and society at large to recognize that boys are also vulnerable and must be equally protected. Justice should not be selective it must be inclusive, balanced and impartial.

Let us stand together in ensuring that no child is overlooked, and no injustice is normalized.
Justice must be equal. Protection must be universal.

The Founder and Executive Director of Keep A Boy Child Safe Organisation had the privilege of attending the award ceremony organized by the Nelly Mutti Foundation, which recognized the best graduating students from three universities.
We commend the leadership of Nelly Mutti, Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, for her continued commitment to supporting education and empowering young people. We are especially encouraged that this yearโ€™s awards reflected gender balance, equality and inclusivity, as both male and female students were recognized.
Moments like these continue to inspire us to work harder in promoting education, mentorship and empowerment for young people in our communities.

Today, as we commemorate National Youth Day, we join the rest of the nation in celebrating the energy, creativity, and potential of young people. This yearโ€™s theme, โ€œRaise and Soar,โ€ reminds us that when young people are empowered, supported, and given opportunities, they can rise above challenges and soar to greater heights.
At Keep A Boy Child Safe Organisation, we remain committed to empowering vulnerable boys and young people through education, mentorship, and community engagement.

Let us continue working together to build a future where every young person has the opportunity to grow, lead and succeed.

PROJECT COMPLETION REPORT | 29th January 2026

We are pleased to share the successful completion of our outreach project conducted on 29th January 2026, aimed at supporting vulnerable boys through access to essential educational materials in line with SDG 4: Quality Education

At the Primary school level, KABCSO supported 50 pupilswith learning materials to enhance their classroom participation and learning experience. Each pupil received exercise books, totaling 400 small exercise books, alongside 100 pencils, 50 erasers, 50 sharpeners and crayons. The pupils were happy, active, and very supportive throughout the engagement, reflecting the positive impact of the intervention.

At Mukulaikwa Boarding Secondary School, the organisation sponsored 10 vulnerable boys with essential school items, including school shoes, school bags, hardcover books, pens, and pencils. This support was aimed at easing educational barriers and encouraging continued school attendance.

During the outreach, the Founder and Executive Director, Mr. Mweenzi Mwaanga, addressed the learners and shared words of encouragement. Drawing from his personal experience as a former Head Boy at the same school, he reminded the boys that dreams do come that background does not determine oneโ€™s future. He emphasized that focus, determination, and self-discipline are key foundations for success. He further reaffirmed that Keep a Boy Child Safe Organisation supports the Free Education Policy and called for increased attention and provision of educational materials, especially in marginalized areas, as a critical step toward achieving quality and inclusive education for all.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our team, supporters, donors and partners for making this project a success. Together, we continue to safeguard the boy child and build brighter futures through education.

Education and Socio-Economic Challenges
Education is a fundamental right guaranteed under Article 28 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Education Act No. 23 of 2011. Yet, school dropout rates among boys in Zambia have been rising.
A report shows that dropout rates among boys in upper basic and secondary schools have increased due to economic hardship, child labour, and peer pressure.
In rural areas, boys are often forced to abandon school to engage in income-generating activities such as charcoal burning, fishing, and street vending in order to support their families.
While national interventions such as bursaries and re-entry policies exist for girls who drop out due to pregnancy or early marriage, there are limited equivalent schemes for boys who leave school for economic or social reasons.
The consequence is a generation of undereducated young men and boys who are unemployed, criminals, and engaged in substance abuse.
