EMPOWERING CAREGIVERS TO CHAMPION DISABILITY RIGHTS IN CHIBOMBO, RUFUNSA AND LWANGWA 💪
Archie Hinchcliffe Disability Intervention (AHDI), through the Collective Action for Disability Rights (CADiR) project, held an inspiring training for caregivers of children with disabilities in Chibombo, Rufunsa, and Luangwa Districts.

This training was a life- changing experience for many participants, as it was their first time learning in details about:
●Human rights and how to claim them.
●Different types and Models of disability
●Advocacy strategies for inclusion and equality
●legal protection under the Persons with Disabilities Act No. 6 of 2012 and the UN Convention on the Rights of persons with Disabilities (CRPD)

Caregivers left the session empowered with knowledge and confidence to advocate for their children, promote inclusion in their Communities, and support decision-making at household and Community levels. The positive impact of this training is already clear. Parents and caregivers now have the tools to champion the rights of children with disabilities and help create a more inclusive Zambia.

Inclusion changes lives. Identifying the most disenfranchised group in any community, and then by taking the necessary steps to ensure that those people are truly included within that community, we take the steps to include everyone.
The favourite word is inclusion.... because inclusion changes lives.

Judiciary to Modify Infrastructure for Persons with Disabilities

By Hannock Kasama

Chief Justice Mumba Malila says the Judiciary intends to modify its infrastructure to enable people living with disabilities and the aged to easily access court rooms and administrative structures.

Dr. Malila has acknowledged that most judicial infrastructure built a long time ago do not have facilities that provide smooth entry of people living with disabilities and the aged.

He said this at the Supreme Court in Lusaka today when the Zambia Association of Female Judges handed over 10 wheel chairs to the Judiciary.

And Zambia Association Of Female Judges President, Sharon Newa acknowledged that the wheel chairs will aid people living with disabilities and the aged to access judicial infrastructure and services.
