🌍 Empower Youth. Save Our Forests. 🌲

The future of Zambia’s climate is being shaped right now by the passion of its youth! Supported by the Youth Empowerment Fund through the global youth mobilization (funded by the European Union) and global partners the World Scouting movement, YMCA, YWCA, IFRC and other partners, these young leaders are standing together for a critical mission: Ending Deforestation in Zambia. 🇿🇲✨

Our forests are vanishing, but this generation refuses to stand by. Armed with education, tools and a shared vision, they are mobilizing to protect our ecosystems and combat climate change at the grassroots level. 🌱💪

But passion alone isn't enough—we need your support to scale our impact. Your donations directly provide training, planting resources, and advocacy tools to help these student changemakers restore our green heritage.

💚 Join the movement today. Invest in our youth, secure our planet, and let's end deforestation together! Global Youth Mobilization European Union in Zambia Peter Siachikole YMCA Europe UNICEF UNDP Zambia

We are honored to implement the Ending Deforestation Project, proudly supported by the EU‑Youth Empowerment Fund through Global Youth Mobilization.
Guided by the leadership of Project Coordinator Luckson Chama, this initiative unites young voices to confront deforestation, promote sustainable alternatives and safeguard Zambia’s natural heritage. Today, we successfully conducted an engaging environmental awareness session on ending deforestation at Nyanje Community School. Learners actively participated in discussions on the causes and effects of deforestation, including soil erosion, climate change and loss of biodiversity.

Through interactive teaching methods such as group presentations and question-and-answer activities, students demonstrated a strong understanding and enthusiasm for protecting their environment.
The session also emphasized practical solutions, encouraging learners to take part in tree planting 🌿🌿🌿🌲🌲🌳🌳 and sustainable land-use practices within their communities. It was inspiring to see young people confidently sharing ideas and committing to becoming environmental stewards.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our donors for making this initiative possible. Special thanks to the EU Youth Empowerment Fund through the Global Youth Mobilization for their invaluable support in empowering young people to lead climate action in their communities.

Global Youth Mobilization/ EU - Youth Empowerment Fund

Your support is helping us confront one of Kafue’s most urgent challenges DEFORESTATION and Charcoal Burning. Together, we are mobilizing youth and women to protect forests, restore degraded land and promote sustainable alternatives to charcoal burning. Through awareness campaigns, tree‑planting drives and community dialogues, we are building a movement that values green livelihoods and climate resilience. Every seed planted and every voice raised is a step toward safeguarding biodiversity and ensuring cleaner air for generations. Your generosity is not only funding activities but it is fueling a vision of a thriving, sustainable Kafue where communities live in harmony with nature.

We remain focused to end deforestation in Zambia.

Environmental & Social Management Plans for Mini Solar Irrigation Schemes and Bulking Centres- SCRALA Project.

With support from the Green Climate Fund, UNDP Zambia in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Zambia to implement the Strengthening Climate Resilience of Agricultural Livelihoods in Agro‑Ecological Regions I & II (SCRALA) Project.

The project aims to boost the resilience of smallholder farmers facing climate change and climate variability.

In line with UNDP’s Social and Environmental Standards (SES), Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs) have been developed for:
✅ The establishment of mini solar-powered irrigation schemes across 15 districts
✅ The construction of bulking centres across 16 districts

These ESMPs outline key measures to ensure environmental protection, community safety and social sustainability as project activities roll out.

UNDP Zambia invites all stakeholders community members, civil society, traditional leaders, local authorities, private sector partners and the general public to review and submit comments on the ESMPs.

Your feedback will help strengthen the final documents and guide the safe, inclusive and sustainable implementation of irrigation schemes and bulking centres under SCRALA.
