All we have to do is choose christ, choose faith choose his way and let him handle the rest👌
When You’re Scared of Making the Wrong Choice...
Psalm 37:23
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.”
Let’s talk about that paralyzing feeling when you’re standing at a crossroads, sweating every possible outcome.
Like one wrong move could ruin everything.
Like God is silently watching, waiting to see whether you pick the “right” or “wrong” path, and if you mess up, you’ll miss His plan.
No wonder so many of us feel paralyzed.
We’re afraid of the future…
afraid of failure…
but mostly, afraid of disappointing God.
If you let it go on long enough, you start to get anxiety and stress.
The truth is however, you don’t need to have it all figured out.
God’s will is not fragile.
Your salvation is definitely not fragile.
And you are not powerful enough to ruin God’s plans.
Psalm 37:23 reminds us that not just your good decisions, but all your steps are ordered by the Lord.
That means God is not pacing in heaven wondering what you’ll choose.
He’s not stressed.
He’s not anxious.
He’s not hoping you get it right.
He knows how much we overthink, procrastinate, and stress about our lives.
He goes ahead of you, prepares the way, and even uses your detours for your good.
The fear of making the wrong choice usually comes from two lies:
Lie #1: “God won’t help me if I choose wrong.”
Truth?
God guides His children even when they wander.
That’s His specialty.
You don’t lose His guidance when you make a mistake.
Lie #2: “My decisions control my destiny.”
Your destiny is secured in Christ, not in your performance.
You are not saved by being right.
You are saved by believing right in the finished work of Jesus.
So why does the fear feel so real?
Because your heart still believes the burden is on you.
Your mind believes your thoughts and your emotions.
The enemy plants thoughts like, “If I choose wrong, everything falls apart!”
But the Bible says, God holds everything together, not me.
When you belong to Jesus, even your “wrong choices” cannot derail His right plan.
God can redirect.
God can realign.
God can use mistakes, accidents, detours, and even failures to bring you exactly where He intended.
This is proven even in Scripture.
• Jonah ran the wrong direction, God still led him.
• Moses killed a man, God still used him.
• Peter denied Jesus, God still restored him.
• Paul persecuted Christians, God still appointed him.
If God can transform those choices into His glory, He can certainly handle the decisions you’re agonizing over.
Here’s how to move forward without fear:
Step 1: Stop trying to be your own shepherd.
You’re not meant to guide yourself. Of course we should use discernment and follow His Word but we must lean on God’s grace.
Step 2: Ask God for wisdom, not a sign.
Wisdom anchors you; signs confuse you. Ask God to guide you only according to His will.
Step 3: Make the decision with a gospel-centered heart.
If your intention is to honor God, you are safe.
Step 4: Trust God more than your logic.
Your plan is limited. His is eternal.
Step 5: Rest in your identity.
You’re a child, not a project.
God leads children gently.
Prayer for the Fearful Decision-Maker:
"Lord, I’m afraid of choosing wrong. I’m scared of missing Your will and burdened by pressure You never put on me. Remind me that You order my steps, not my perfection. Guide me with Your wisdom and quiet my anxious thoughts. Help me trust Your sovereignty more than my fears. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
