📢 *AASEV UPDATE – TRENDING GIRL CASE*

We are pleased to report that after nearly two months of searching, a combined team from Action Against Sexual Violence (AASEV) , Social Welfare , and the Chipata Level 1 GBV Section successfully located the girl and handed her over to Social Welfare.

DETAILS OF THE CASE

The girl had been allegedly defiled by her father. During our investigation, we also discovered that the father, the mother, and the girl herself all have mental health illnesses. This adds a complex layer to the case and highlights the urgent need for coordinated support for families facing multiple vulnerabilities.

📢 *AASEV STRENGTHENS PARTNERSHIP WITH THE GENDER DIVISION*

Action Against Sexual Violence (AASEV) successfully participated in the 2nd Quarter Anti-GBV Coordination Meeting, held on 23rd and 24th July 2026 at the Gender Division Conference Room in Lusaka.

The meeting brought together government institutions, civil society organisations, and development partners to consolidate advocacy work on gender-based violence through enhanced coordination, collaboration, and communication.

OUR COMMITMENT

AASEV remains committed to:
- Strengthening coordination with the government and partners.
- Advocating for survivor-centered legal and policy reforms.
- Raising awareness and supporting survivors across Zambia.

FALSE ACCUSATIONS HARM THE FIGHT AGAINST SEXUAL VIOLENCE

AASEV Condemns Fabricated R**e Claims

LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – 3 July 2026

Two young Lusaka women, Mariah Sinamweenda and Angela Nsofwa, have publicly apologised after admitting to fabricating false r**e accusations against an innocent Yango driver.

The false claims circulated widely on social media, warning that the driver was "dangerous." Investigations later proved the allegations were entirely untrue.

OUR POSITION

AASEV condemns false accusations and urges the public to take this matter seriously.

FALSE ACCUSATIONS:
- Destroy innocent lives and reputations.
- Undermine the credibility of genuine survivors.
- Are a criminal offence under Zambia's Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act.

The fight against sexual violence is sacred. It must not be weaponised for personal gain, attention, or malice.

A Call to Action

- Verify before sharing. Do not spread unverified information.
- Do not weaponise sexual violence. Justice is for genuine survivors, not personal agendas.
- Stand with real survivors. Support efforts to hold actual perpetrators accountable.

- Advocate for swift and fair justice.
