Tonight on the Imiti Nashikula Radio Show!

Recently, Zambia unveiled a historic K200 Billion National Budget. Yet, amidst this massive financial plan, one critical question remains unanswered: where is the dedicated investment to tackle the climate crisis?

This isn't just an environmental question—it's an economic one. Climate change is the root cause cited for load-shedding, food insecurity, and poverty, yet our national planning seems to ignore it. This disconnect doesn't just halt progress; it actively deepens our vulnerability.

Join us tonight on UNZA Radio at 19:00 hrs as we dissect "Zambia's Climate Blind Spot: The 200 Billion Kwacha Question."

The Legal Erasure of Inters*x Citizens in Zambia

In Zambia, inters*x children are often forced into irreversible surgeries simply to fit into a law that recognizes only “male” or “female.” This isn’t medicine, it’s a violation of dignity, autonomy, and personhood.

Our Constitution promises equality and freedom from inhuman treatment, yet it fails to protect people born with s*x characteristics that are not clearly Male or Female. This silence leaves inters*x Zambians legally invisible and vulnerable to harm.

Unseen Minority Zambia calls for urgent reform:
1. Amend Article 23 to include s*x characteristics as a protected ground.
2. Reform the Births and Deaths Registration Act to allow deferred registration.
3. Ban all non-consensual surgeries on inters*x minors.

We are currently conducting a national survey to assess the Zambian youth’s knowledge and understanding of inters*x people. Your voice matters, help us build awareness and shape a more inclusive future.

Securing Zambia's Future: Responsible Mining for Sustainable Prosperity

As the country stands at the crossroads of major mineral development, we must ask ourselves: How can we harness our natural wealth today without compromising tomorrow's opportunities? The lessons from Kabwe remain painfully clear, where mining brought temporary gains but left lasting environmental and social challenges that continue to affect the town decades later.

This critical conversation about sustainable mineral development isn't about restricting progress, but about ensuring it benefits all Zambians, both now and in the future including unborn citizens. We must establish clear frameworks that:

Protect our environment by adopting modern, responsible mining practices that prevent long-term damage

Secure economic justice by ensuring mineral wealth translates to tangible community benefits and national development

Plan for the future by requiring rehabilitation and transition strategies before mining even begins

Countries like our neighbors Botswana have demonstrated that mineral resources can be developed responsibly while creating lasting value. As Zambia moves forward with ambitious mining targets, we have both the right and responsibility to demand development that:
Respects environmental limits
Delivers fair returns to Zambian citizens
Leaves communities stronger, not weaker, when the mining comes to an end.

The time for these decisions is now, before new mines open, before contracts are signed. Join us as we discuss how Zambia can charter a smarter path forward beyond profits.

On this day of love and appreciation, let’s not forget those whose stories often go unseen.
This Valentine’s Day, let’s extend our hearts to those in minority communities whose voices are unheard and experiences overlooked. Love is about inclusion, respect, and standing in solidarity with all. Today, let’s remind ourselves that everyone deserves to be seen, valued, and loved. Together, we can build a world where no one is left in the shadows.
Happy Valentine’s Day to all!"
