MZGM MAKES A DONATION TO PROVIDENCE HOME ❤️

On May 9th, 2026, the Make Zambia Great Movement, with support from the IAYSP Zambia and Students for Peace and the The Young Boy Awake , orchestrated a profoundly moving outreach to Providence Home, a Catholic care facility nestled in Makeni in the heart of Lusaka, dedicated to children with special needs.

This visit was more than a singular event; it embodied the essence of who we are as a movement—a testament that we are indeed stronger together when we choose to see and uplift each other. As we stepped onto the grounds of Providence Home, we were welcomed by the gentle, hopeful gaze of children, and the warm, steadfast dedication of the staff who, day after day, create a safe space for these young souls.

We arrived with carefully curated donations; groceries, fresh clothing, snacks, and basic toiletries yet, while these items were vital, they were only the beginning. What we truly brought was our presence, our time, and a deliberate compassion, an effort to remind these children that they are seen, that they are valued, and that they belong. We observed, with quiet respect, the ways the children expressed themselves, some through laughter, some through small gestures, a wave or a nod. We also sat with the staff, whose stories painted a picture of resilience, they spoke of daily battles: scarce resources, the need for specialized therapies, and the constant balancing act between care and sustainability. We were intentional in our approach; we remained mindful, ensuring we did not overwhelm the children, but simply offered quiet solidarity.

One staff member recounted how a young girl, usually shy and withdrawn, lit up with a small smile when we presented her with a soft toy—no grand spectacle, just a gentle reminder that she is not forgotten. These moments, so subtle, so fleeting, are the heartbeat of Ubuntu; “I am because we are.” In a world often fractured by isolation, this principle reminds us that we belong to one another, and we are called to lift the most vulnerable.

Our movement is not content with mere words; we believe that real change happens in the daily choices we make, in the small, deliberate acts of love. We thank every donor, every volunteer, every supporter, for joining us in this journey. We call on the wider community to walk with us, so we can build a future where no child is overlooked, no family is left unsupported, and where the guiding spirit of Ubuntu lights the path for a brighter, more inclusive Zambia.

Together, we will not only visit places like Providence Home, we will transform them, and in doing so, transform ourselves and our nation.

REPORT ON THE SECOND QUARTER DONATION ACTIVITY AT PROVIDENCE HOUSE, MAKENI

The Movement successfully conducted its first second-quarter outreach activity at Providence House, a disability care center managed by Catholic sisters. The activity was carried out with support from IAYSP Zambia and The Young Boy Awake , who have continued to be major partners in our community initiatives, including the recent Donate a Book Campaign.

The purpose of the visit was to extend love, care and support to the differently abled members of society through the donation of snacks, assorted groceries and clothing. The activity was successfully completed and served as an important reminder of the value of compassion, unity and community service in the spirit of ubuntu 🙌.

MAKE ZAMBIA GREAT MOVEMENT (MZGM)
OFFICIAL REPORT ON THE RECOGNITION OF OUR MZGM PRESIDENT AS YOUTH PEACE AMBASSADOR

Date: 08 May 2026

The Make Zambia Great Movement (MZGM) is pleased to formally report and celebrate the recognition of one of its leaders as a Youth Peace Ambassador by the Universal Peace Federation on 07 May 2026. This recognition highlights the growing role of young people in promoting peace, civic responsibility, and national unity.

2. Significance of the Recognition

This honour represents more than an individual achievement; it reflects the collective commitment of young citizens who are actively working to foster peaceful communities across Zambia.

Peace remains the foundation upon which national unity, democracy, and development are built. Without peace, progress becomes unsustainable, and social cohesion weakens. The recognition therefore reinforces the importance of youth participation in peacebuilding efforts at community and national levels.

3. Peace as a National Priority

MZGM reaffirms that peace must remain a national priority, especially as the country approaches the upcoming general elections. Zambia’s long-standing national motto, “One Zambia, One Nation,” continues to remind citizens that unity and coexistence are essential pillars of national stability.

The movement strongly believes that:
• Peace must transcend political ideologies and party affiliations.
• Youth must become ambassadors of dialogue and non-violence.
• Political actors must uphold responsible and peaceful engagement.

4. Role of Youth and Political Stakeholders

As a youth-led civic movement, MZGM calls upon:
Young people to reject violence, misinformation, and division.
Political players to prioritise national interest over partisan conflict.
Communities to promote tolerance, dialogue, and peaceful coexistence.
This recognition serves as a timely reminder that safeguarding peace is a collective responsibility shared by all citizens.

5. MZGM Commitment Going Forward

The Make Zambia Great Movement commits to:
Intensifying civic education and peace messaging among youths.
Supporting initiatives that promote tolerance and unity.
Encouraging responsible political participation during the electoral period.

MZGM congratulates the newly recognised Youth Peace Ambassador and applauds the continued efforts of young leaders working toward a peaceful and united Zambia.
Peace must remain our shared priority — because only through peace can Zambia achieve unity, prosperity, and sustainable development.

This May, as we honor Africa Freedom Day, we don’t just look back at the giants who paved the way—we look forward to the giants we are becoming. True liberation is found in our unity, and true progress begins at home.

When we commit to Making Zambia Great, we aren't just building a nation; we are fueling the heartbeat of an entire continent. Every bridge built, every mind educated, and every hand joined in Lusaka or the Copperbelt strengthens the fabric of Africa.
This poem by NBM one of the members of Make Zambia Great Movement is a reminder that each one of us is tool for building a united Africa as youths who are leaders of Today and not Tomorrow as per our slogan.

Reflect. Unite. Build.

Because by making Zambia great, we make Africa unstoppable. 🕊️💪

A VISION FOR AN INCLUSIVE DIGITAL FRONTIER at UNZA

By Moses Nyambe, National Think Tank Director.

Wednesday 06 May 2026.

The recent Senate resolution to commence the Second Term on 11th May 2026 via online platforms is a bold step toward academic continuity. It signals our university's resilience in the face of change. However, for a transition of this magnitude to be truly successful and not just functional it must be equitable, robust, and visionary. We stand at a crossroads where we can either digitize our current hurdles or innovate past them. To ensure the "Light and Service" of UNZA reaches every student, we must address three pillars of digital transformation:

1. From Stability to Strength: Building a Robust Infrastructure

Our ambition must be matched by our technical capacity. The Moodle platform is the heartbeat of our virtual campus; it must be reinforced to ensure that no student’s hard work is lost to a system crash during a deadline. Furthermore, in our large-enrollment courses like Economics and Development Studies, education should have no "waiting room." By securing institutional licenses that accommodate our 500+ student cohorts, we ensure that every voice can be heard in the digital lecture hall.

2. Radical Inclusivity: Leaving No Scholar Behind

A digital shift is only as successful as its most vulnerable participant. We have a moral and academic mandate to ensure:

Accessibility: That our differently-abled scholars have the assistive digital tools they need to excel.

Affordability: That financial barriers be it data costs or portal fees do not become a "digital fence" keeping brilliant minds away from their education.

3. A Partnership for Progress

We recommend a proactive collaboration with industry leaders like Paratus Zambia to fortify our internet backbone. Most importantly, we call for a synergy between the Senate and the Student Body. When we consult, we create ownership. When we listen, we lead.

"The true measure of our university’s greatness is not found in how we navigate the easy paths, but in how we ensure every student stays on the journey during the difficult ones."

Let us use this transition not merely as a temporary fix, but as a catalyst to make the University of Zambia a gold standard for digital learning in Africa. Let us move forward together with stability, with equity, and with the unshakeable resolve that no student shall be left behind.

Respectfully submitted.
